    Job Description

    AECOM is currently searching for a Senior Civil Designer on a regular full-time basis, to join our Canadian mining team. The primary role of a Senior Civil Designer is to contribute to mining infrastructure, tailings facilities, dams and surface water management projects in a supportive capacity, working as part of a project team under the guidance and supervision of project managers, engineers, or specialists. A Senior Civil Designer will perform a variety of tasks, including the development of 3D models, CAD drawings, contract specifications, quantity take-offs, and technical reports. While our focus is primarily on collaboration, there are tasks that may require working independently to perform various assignments, such as calculations, fieldwork, and task coordination.

    Your Responsibilities

    • Incorporating topographic surveys into the design and as-built surveys into record drawings.

    • Creating CAD surface and digital terrain modeling.

    • Developing grading and drainage system models using Civil 3D to assist in the creation of 2D plans and profiles, cross-sections, and details.

    • Preparing plan, profile, grading, cross-sections, surface design for water pipelines, and roadways and earthworks design from preliminary to final.

    • Creating roadway alignments, profiles, subassemblies, and corridors using Civil 3D.

    • Performing vehicle turn or swept path analysis using AutoTURN or Vehicle tracking.

    • Adhering to client CAD standards and styles, quality assurance and quality control procedures are followed during drawing planning and production.

    • Conducting model checks and drawing design checks as part of the QA/QC procedure for others' work.

    • Collaborating with Project Engineers, Designers, and Project Managers to assist in planning, design, AutoCAD/Civil 3D drafting, and the preparation of construction plans, bid documents, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates for various civil engineering projects.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil engineering technician/technology diploma from a recognized community college or the ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge received from previous experience in a similar position

    • 6+ years experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D in mining projects, infrastructure and utilities projects and site grading

    • Proficiency with Civil 3D, with an emphasis on mining projects, infrastructure and utilities projects, roadway and site grading is a must.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of experience

    • Eligible for registration in a Canadian provincial association of engineering technologists or other technical accreditation is an asset.

    • Good understanding of civil engineering design concepts for grading, drainage, earthworks, roads, underground conveyance systems (water distribution, stormwater, and sewage collection systems)

    • Experience with mine surface water management projects highly desirable

    • Solid understanding of coordinate systems

    • Excellent understanding of requirements and application of client CAD standards.

    • Ability to manage multiple projects.

    • Experience with BlueBeam, BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud and ProjectWise is an asset.

    • Proficient in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

    • Strong communication skills and a willingness to work in a team environment.

    • Valid Canadian Class V Driver's License

    Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $68,000.00 - $115,000.00.
