    Required Skills:

    Security Engineer Responsibilities

    1. Identify, build and configure security systems to protect the Meta infrastructure.

    2. Work with members of IT, Operations, and Security teams to harden the infrastructure against attack, ensuring Meta operates in a secure environment.

    3. Develop security software tools to aggregate and monitor network security threats and issues.

    4. Build scalable, distributed security solutions for creating detection signals.

    5. Develop and debug Security systems using skills in PHP, C/C++, or Python.

    6. Build robust systems or frameworks to reliably facilitate detection of adversarial events in extremely large host and network ecosystems.

    7. Analyze the latest attacker techniques and their impact on Meta's network security.

    8. Assess the security of the core infrastructure and take a hands-on role in building solutions.

    9. Define configuration standards for system and network devices to harden them against attacks.

    10. Consult on new infrastructure projects or architecture changes and evaluate security needs as well as support the Security Operations team by designing and implementing infrastructure to aid incident response efforts.

    11. Focus on intelligence collection and presentation, actor attribution systems and tools development, and a variety of disruption and enforcement activities around the world.

    12. Communicate cross-functionally and effectively in one-on-one and group settings to explain complex security requirements to non-security individuals.

    13. Act as a subject matter expert on cyber security and inform stakeholders on new infrastructure projects or architecture changes.

    14. Mitigate security network incidents by deploying testing/QA controls and counter measures.

    15. Assist with technical investigation, enforcement, and engineering efforts toward predictable high-quality execution.

    16. Assist with information technology investigation, enforcement, and technical discussions with team, review case reports and code, act as a subject matter expert, and assist with technical security strategy.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. Requires a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Software, Engineering, Information Security, Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or a related field. Requires completion of a university-level course, research project, internship, or thesis in the following:

      1. Ensuring security and privacy on the internet
      1. Interpreted programming language, such as PHP, Python, Perl, or Ruby
      1. Coding and assessing code in multiple languages, including PHP, Java, Python, and JavaScript
      1. Designing secure systems, using experience with secure coding design principles and best practices
      1. Web security fundamentals, including the ability to review code, find bugs, and suggest remediation
      1. Working with cross-functional partners to define security methodologies, policies, and problems
      1. Technical writing skills including writing technical reports
      1. Debugging and performing root cause analysis of security-related problems
      1. Driving security issues to remediation by working with developers, and contributing changes to the code bases.

    Public Compensation:

    $182,394/year to $200,200/year + bonus + equity + benefits
