The Finance Strategic Capabilities Unit delivers the expertise and business acumen to increase value across the enterprise by providing actionable information with recommendations and opportunities to drive sustainable business growth.
What You ll Do:
Report to the BAE SMS VP, Finance for BAE SMS and is the primary interface with the BAE Inc. Controller and BAE ESS VP Finance
Provide strategic direction and oversight to the SMS Financial Accounting, Reporting, and Tax, Accounting Operations, and Government Accounting, Compliance, and Internal Controls organizations.
Work closely with the SMS VP, Finance and Executive Leadership teams to identify, analyze, track, forecast and disposition business risks and opportunities potentially impacting SMS financial results.
Responsible for accuracy and compliance of BAE SMS Financial Statements, Disclosure Statements and Incurred Cost Claims with applicable accounting and regulatory standards.
Provide oversight and management of the application of BAE Systems Financial Accounting Policies and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) to complex accounting issues/judgments to ensure such matters are appropriately recorded in the SMS financial statements.
Responsible for strategic management of Internal Financial Controls and serves as BAE SMS Sr liaison with external auditors including Deloitte and DCAA
Responsible for identifying opportunities to streamline processes and procedures to ensure the most effective utilization of resources within the Controller s organization.
Provide strategic direction for employee hiring, development, mentoring and training.
Support the Finance organization providing guidance and strategic insight on potential business impacts to SMS resulting from changes to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), IFRS and Cost Accounting Standards.
Develop appropriate risk balanced practices to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards. Will require coordination with various functions.
Establish collaborative working relationships across the organization to enable effective communication and coordination for Financial Accounting and Government Accounting policies, procedures and best practices.
Work cross-functionally with other SMS stakeholders to manage SMS cash flow, forecast and achieve annual SMS operating cash flow commitments, and coordinating with the BAE SMS VP of Finance and BAE SMS Director of FP&A for opportunities for improvement.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working onsite 4-5 days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Travel to SMS campuses and other possible non-SMS locations may be required.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor s degree in accounting or a related field and 12 or more years of related experience in Aerospace and Defense (A&D) or similar government contracting environment required.
Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
Expertise in Deltek Costpoint required.
TS/SCI with CI Poly Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain, required.
Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) required.
Demonstrated experience in the application of complex accounting standards and judgements relevant to SMS financial statements, including, but not limited to, revenue recognition, provisions and leases.

Experience developing management responses to audit findings and following through on corrective action plans.
A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Advanced accounting or business degree.
Expertise in Deltek Costpoint.
CPA, CGMA, CMA, or other equivalent accounting certificate/license.
Prior Public Accounting and/or Internal Audit experience.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $196296 - $333704
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
