Job #2799382849
Helper- Helper for Box Truck Deliveries
Location:Seaford, DE
Job Description:Ideal candidates are enthusiastic, communicate effectively, and are ready to get the job done. Successful delivery drivers enjoy being out on the road driving, put safety first, and care deeply about customer expectations and satisfaction.
Helper Responsibilities GuidanceAMXL/RSR DSPs are encouraged to leverage this SOP with Helpers to enforce safe on-road behaviors.
• To assist the Driver, Helpers should ensure that the proper tools are present in the vehicle before departure, including gloves, masks, hand truck, safety box cutter, and hand tools.
• Helpers should not handle the vehicle keys. This will prevent Trailer Dock Release (TDR) confusion and increase vehicle security.
• If needing to use phone for personal use, Helpers should do so only during breaks or meal periods. This will allow the Helper be aware if the Driver is becoming distracted.
• If a Helper is feeling fatigued, they should reach out to the dispatcher for options. Helpers are needed to actively scan the road for potential hazards, such as pedestrians, wires, tree limbs, animals, and other potentially dangerous scenarios.
• Helpers should engage with the Driver regularly to ensure they are tracking upcoming stops, as well as any hazards that may be present on the route.
• Helpers should actively review the manifest and be conscious of where and when Scheduled Deliveries (SD) fall along the route. Helpers can prepare for In-Home Services deliveries by alerting the Driver when pre-calls should be placed, as well as if the route needs to be adjusted to hit a scheduled timeframe.
• Helpers should ensure that a walk-the-path occurs before a service delivery to prevent slips, trips, falls, or potential property damage.
• If the Driver appears to be compromised and is not capable of continuing a route, Helpers should notify their DSP, request that the Driver pull over at the next safe location, and contact Amazon via the "Emergency Help" button in the Amazon Delivery App.
• When organizing packages in the cargo area, Helpers should ensure the lift gate is extended to allow for additional walking room and minimize the risk of falling off the truck.
• As a reminder, DAs should not lift packages over 50 lbs. or manually maneuver packages in excess of 85 lbs. alone. They should use team lift for packages up to 100 lbs. and hand trucks or shoulder straps for packages over 100 lbs.
• Helpers should perform Get Out And Look (GOAL) any time the Driver is maneuvering through a blind spot or reversing.
• Helpers should act as the a Spotter when performing a backing maneuver, communicating with the Driver through hand signals and verbal cues (see next page for these signals).
