School Van Driver

Transport students on designated route. Ensure adherence to safety rules.

Responsibilities and Duties

This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive, and the driver is expected to perform all duties as assigned or directed. Drivers may not perform all the duties listed while in other cases related duties may also be assigned. • Follow safety rules as students' board and exit van or cross streets near stop.
• Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
• Check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order.
• Maintain order among pupils during trips to ensure safety.
• Pick up and drop off students at regularly scheduled neighborhood locations, following strict time schedules.
• Report any malfunctions or needed repairs.
• Prepare and submit reports that may include the number of students or trips, hours worked, mileage, and fuel consumption.
• Keep bus interiors clean for students.
• Read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
• Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
• Make minor repairs to vehicles.

Minimum Educational Requirements

· High School Diploma or GED
