    Scale operator will perform various functions that include but are not limited to receiving and weighing incoming metals and materials, processing paperwork, inspecting received materials, working with customer. This position will also perform routine clerical and administrative function.

    Education / Training:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required;

    • Continued education in the Business or Accounting field, a plus;

    • Previous work-related experience, preferred.

    Key Job Elements:

    • Scale operator/transaction entry for inbound and outbound material;

    • Communicate with both customers and vendors;

    • Order and manage office and safety supplies;

    • Log all purchasing activities;

    • Input purchase orders and receipts into COUPA;

    • Monitor and document inbound railcars to minimize demurrage costs;

    • Document all cars received at the facility and cars processed at the facility;

    • Perform multiple monthly reporting functions;

    • Perform and assist with monthly compliance activities;

    • Perform facility payroll functions for hourly and tonnage compensated employees;

    • Perform facility document classification and retention activities;

    • Other job duties as assigned regarding the operations of the yard.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Previous experience in a business office environment;

    • Basic excel knowledge preferred;

    • Knowledge of A/R or cash application preferred;

    • RECY accounting system knowledge, a plus;

    • Proficient skills with Excel, Outlook, and Word;

    • Customer Service oriented;

    • Ability to multi-task, work independently and efficiently;

    • Detail-oriented working with a sense of urgency.

    • Strength - Able to lift up to 50 lbs;

    • Motion - This position is primarily in an office setting requiring sitting at desk but may require going out into the yard;

    • Vision/Hearing Requirements - Must be able to detect or tell the differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness. The ability to see details at close range or at a distance. Will spend a majority of the time in front of computer screen;

    • Work Environment- Will spend the majority of time in office environment, although exposed to facility requiring exposure to hot and cold environments along with noise exposure;

    • Emotional Demands - Interpret data correctly. Make quick decisions. Work with and be patient with customers;

    • Safety - Not a safety sensitive position but does require the use of PPE when in a production environment.
