JOB SUMMARY
As a member of the Operations Control Support team, the SCADA Analyst team contributes to ONEOK's commitment to safe, efficient, 24/7 operations by maintaining a state-of-the-art SCADA system for liquid petroleum pipelines. The SCADA Analyst provides real-time support to Operations Control, maintains and updates the SCADA Systems, and may evaluate and implement system enhancements.
SCADA Analysts strive to safely implement new assets in the SCADA system, improve operational safety, solve real-time problems, reduce operations upsets, increase efficiency, etc. They are expected to understand complex issues/problems/situations, determine solutions, and present information to decision makers or make a decision themselves.
A successful candidate will work closely with multi-discipline teams made up of Project Managers, Controls Technology Engineers, other SCADA Analysts, Controllers, etc., to complete projects. In this role, the SCADA Analyst may work on multiple projects with competing priorities and occasionally be required to achieve tight project schedules.
Job Profile Summary
Designs, builds, programs, modifies, administers, documents, and supports the Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) field communication and networking schemes. Tests modifications using simulation tools in a development environment. Configures and/or develops communications systems screens and/or database records to connect field Remote Terminal Units (RTU) to the master SCADA system. Collaborates with engineers and field personnel to perform final testing with live data prior to implementation in the production system. Troubleshoots problems and issues including, but not limited to: equipment communications and remote equipment malfunction. Documents program development, logic, coding, and corrections. Writes manuals for users to describe installation and operating procedures.
The incumbent works under regular supervision and applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity; exercises judgement within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. Although guidelines are established, the SCADA Analyst I position requires the ability to deal with occasional anomalies.
Limited use and/or application of basic theories/principles/concepts/techniques as obtained by higher education or equivalent experience. Developing knowledge of company policies/practices. Provides resolutions to problems of limited scope following standard practices and procedures by analyzing data from which answers to problems can be readily obtained. Overall work is closely managed and reviewed. Tasks/duties are usually assignment-related and detailed work assignments are typically provided by management. Failure to accomplish results can normally be overcome without significant effect on the organization, goals, schedules or objectives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Using graphic design application(s), develops Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) screens and supports database modifications on a Windows-based SCADA system. Configures, creates and/or modifies new screens, database records, and communications systems to route field data to the master SCADA computer. All work is completed and tested in a development environment to verify it has been configured properly.
Performs lab testing and simulation in a development environment. Examines the validity of data points, troubleshoots data and control points, maintenance system upgrades, and new product implementation.
Collaborates with Controls Technology field engineers and/or field technicians to troubleshoot RTUs and related equipment by providing diagnostic and run-time information from SCADA on the RTUs, flow computers, and related equipment. Performs final testing with field personnel using live data to verify all configuration and development work has been completed correctly.
Troubleshoots and restores SCADA functions for Operations Control. Restores failed communications to field systems, investigates and resolves incorrect configurations. Supports and assists Operations Controllers with resolving operational issues.
Provides recommendations for methods to incorporate new pipelines into the existing assets and SCADA system. Provides technical expertise and business consultation and over-sees assignments.
