  • Overview:

    This position is responsible for support of day to day operations within M&T's Risk Division and execution of the overall Risk Management Program for M&T Bank/Wilmington Trust. With levels of direction and guidance, the position requires the execution of one or more activities that support the Risk Strategy & Planning Director and the Chief Risk Officer ("CRO").

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Support responsibilities for compilation of agenda topics and materials for the Management Risk Committee ("MRC") and Risk Committee of the Board of Directors ("RCB"), ensuring focus on key risk areas.

    • Assist in working with divisional and bank wide teams to prepare materials and information necessary to ensure effective discussions, feedback, and decision making and to manage risk governance processes

    • Offer oversight and guidance to Risk Governance Committees ("RGCs") and support adherence to the Risk Governance Committee standards

    • Assist in review and maintenance of procedures and job aids

    • Manage the Risk Governance Committee SharePoint site

    • Ensure adherence to enterprise risk related policies and procedures. Understand and utilize the Risk Management Framework and assist in developing and implementing various elements of said framework with focus on less complex areas.

    • Assist in the collection of data and preparation of materials/presentations for the Risk Strategy & Planning Director and/or the CRO.

    • Perform routine analysis and judgment-based work over a single or a few closely related disciplines at the request of the CRO.

    • With oversight, serve as a liaison to risk pillars or Internal Audit. Escalate any known significant and/or unresolved risk-related matters to the Risk Strategy and Planning Director.

    • Support others in continuous improvement of existing processes and develop new processes to achieve short- and long-term business objectives.

    • Adhere to departmental procedures. Support efforts to develop and improve training and materials utilized by the department and/or the Bank.

    • Indirect participation in specific regulatory inquiries and examinations.

    • Meet Training requirements assigned by the Bank, Division and Department. Proactively pursue knowledge of new bank initiatives (i.e., Agile project management methodology).

    • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

    • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

    • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

    • Complete other related duties as assigned.

    Scope of Responsibilities:

    The incumbent will be responsible for Risk Strategy & Planning activities as assigned, such as those specified below:

    • Support the CRO and the Bank through the management of governance and enterprise risk processes.

    • Support activities for laws and rules that apply across the enterprise.

    • Stay abreast of evolving themes in risk, understanding various internal and external factors that may impact the Bank.

    • Analyze information to identify risks and trending.

    • Support technology, such as the eGRC system, administrative and reporting processes.

    • Independently evaluate the area's management of key processes for the effective and efficient mitigation of risk.

    • Provides data, analytics and reporting that support the identification, assessment, monitoring, mitigation, and reporting of all significant risks.

    • Support the automation of processes.

    • Support risk pillar specific processes as needed.

    Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities:

    No direct management.

    Education and Experience Required:

    Bachelor's Degree

    2 years' experience in risk, reporting and analytics, governance, or other relevant function OR in lieu of degree, combined minimum 6 years higher education and/or work experience, including minimum 2 years in risk, reporting and analytics, governance, or other relevant function.

    Education and Experience Preferred:

    Effectively communicates with others throughout the Bank via phone, email or in person to obtain information necessary for the completion of reporting.

    Proficient computer skills (including spreadsheet, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and word processing software), analytical skills, and working knowledge of applicable laws and written communication skills.

    M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $60,890.34 - $101,483.90 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
