This posting will be used to fill multiple full - time, rotating shift position with some weekend and holiday shifts.
This Residential Lead (HSSS Lead) posting has the work location of: Forensic Grove A/ non secure units
As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the HSSS Lead provides direct care, treatment, support, and leisure activities to residents of the Forensics Mental Health Program while also providing training for the HSSS staff in the Forensic Mental Health Program.
Day-to-day responsibilities of this position include:
Providing care to patients in accordance with the plan of care and under the direction of a licensed nurse while maintaining a therapeutic working relationship with patients.
Assist patients in meeting their daily needs and requests, promoting independence when possible.
Provide emergency interventions as indicated (CPR, appropriate intervention for imminent risk of harm to self or others) to protect the health and safety of patients, staff, and the public.
Protect patients from maltreatment and report any abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation.
Maintain a safe environment by following agency policies on Vulnerable Adult laws, security policies, infection control practices, health department standards, Joint Commission standards and other oversight agencies and laws (licensing rules, HIPAA, etc.)
Critically review and work to enhance the environment for safety, including maintaining the ability to operate equipment properly and preemptively keep equipment in good repair.
Manage crisis situations using the least restrictive/intrusive methods of intervention, and support patients as necessary in emergency interventions.
Provide general patient supervision to ensure health and safety of patients, staff, and the public.
To objectively document, accurately record, and appropriately communicate information to contribute to quality facility operation.
To observe, objectively document, and report patient behavior to assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of patient treatment plans so that patients receive proper and consistent treatment.
Transporting residents, if needed.
Train, collaborate and demonstrate a person-centered working environment to new employees and current Human Service Support Specialists.
Demonstrate and role model a conflict competent working environment.
The HSSS Lead observes, interprets and documents patient responses to their care plans; and provides direct care services and support to patients to ensure they are well fed, cared for, in good health, and included in decisions, as appropriate. The HSSS Lead uses nonphysical intervention strategies, such as negotiation, redirection, etc., to control and diffuse aggressive/ violent/ inappropriate behavior. The HSSS Lead has knowledge of developmental disabilities and mental illness sufficient to assist with the design and implementation of individual treatment plans and has skills in human relations sufficient to establish rapport with patients, their families and service providers. The HSSS Lead demonstrates effective leadership and person-centered skills with their peers and is a resource for questions and problem solving. The HSSS Lead is also knowledgeable of the laws, rules, regulations and policies governing treatment of vulnerable adults and operation of licensed facilities, as well as the licensure standards that help keep patients at our facilities safe while also protecting their rights.

Minimum Qualifications
Must have a valid Driver's License
High School diploma or GED
Read, write and speak English.
Provide lead work direction to staff in the delivery of health care services, developmental treatment programs, and support services to individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or individuals living with mental illness.
Train, schedule, assign work to, and evaluate performance of, other direct care staff in implementing and documenting treatment plans.
Communicate verbally and nonverbally with patients to identify physical, emotional and daily living needs.
Evaluate need for, order and obtain supplies and equipment sufficient to ensure that medical, programming and housekeeping functions are maintained.
Licensing standards sufficient to inspect work sites, eliminate safety hazards, conduct periodic emergency and evacuation drills, and establish operating procedures.
Laws, rules, regulations, and policies governing treatment of vulnerable adults and operation of licensed facilities sufficient to protect the rights of clients/residents.
Therapeutic intervention techniques sufficient to de-escalate aggressive or violent behavior.
Preferred Qualifications

Three or more years of leadership experience in a direct care setting.
