    Position Summary: 

    This position is for a Women’s Health resident in the Orlando Health – University of Central Florida residency program, currently in candidacy status. This specialty area is our newest offering in our residency programming, with an innovative design split between a specialty women’s hospital acute care setting and outpatient rehabilitation services. Our residency faculty include expert physical therapists and advanced certifications including: Board Certified Women’s Health Clinical Specialist, Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic Physical Therapy, and Certificate of achievement in Pregnancy and Postpartum Physical Therapy. They have presented at state and national level conferences on women’s health as well as are completing research in this niche area.

    In addition to extensive training in pelvic and obstetric physical therapy, the program will also offer training in pelvic and breast oncology, lymphedema, and women's neuromusculoskeletal health across the lifespan, with opportunities for community involvement and research. The Women’s Health Residency Program mission

Graduates of the residency program will express their training through excellence in clinical practice, improvement in quality of care, increased knowledge in foundational science and management of patients, application of evidence-based practice, involvement in

    through involvement in

    of future physical therapists and participation in clinical research.

    This position will be split between Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Acute Care Hospital and Orlando Health Advanced Rehabilitation Institute Outpatient Center, both located in downtown Orlando.

    Responsibilities:

    Essential Functions


    • Committed to the completion of the educational goals and objectives of the residency program and to the mission and values of


    Orlando Health.


    • Performs duties outside of clinical time which may include, but are not limited to, sports field coverage, mobility screenings,


    community support groups, physician rounding, teaching assistance or guest lectures with local physical therapy programs,


    multidisciplinary clinic days, volunteer community engagement events, and supporting local community partner events.


    • Reports to scheduled mentoring time prepared with patient cases to review or live patient mentor sessions scheduled. Resident


    physical therapist is responsible for initiating need for increased time or support needed.


    • Communicates with residency program faculty, mentor, and clinical site supervisor as appropriate.


    • Collaborates within and across Orlando Health departments and its partners.


    • Complete one or more outcome-oriented projects.


    • Evaluates patients, gathering data from the patient, the physician, interdisciplinary team meetings if available, family, significant


    other persons, and data sources.


    • Develops treatment plans which integrate with the continuum of care and have specific goals and objectives and treats


    accordingly.


    • Demonstrates competency in the use, care, and maintenance of profession specific equipment, observing safety precautions


    and providing verbal explanations of the equipment and its purpose.


    • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to treat and provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the


    assigned caseload.


    • Re-evaluates and modifies treatment plan and goals when appropriate.


    • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.


    • Assesses data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s


    requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs.


    • Provides care as described in the unit’s/area’s/department’s policies and procedures.


    • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her


    practicing location(s). Recognizes and communicates when the patient has received optimal benefit from physical therapy.


    • Adheres to State Practice Act and Standards of Practice.


    • Ensures complete, and timely, documentation and accurate billing.


    • Provides patient/family education as indicated.


    • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state,


    and local standards.


    • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

    Qualifications:

    Education/Training

    Bachelor’s degree or higher from an approved program in physical therapy.

    Licensure/Certification

    • Maintains current Physical Therapist license in the State of Florida. Temporary permit acceptable.

    • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
