  • Summary:

    Meta Reality Labs Research (RLR) brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers with the shared goal of developing AR and VR across the spectrum. The charter of the Graphics Research group within RLR is to make exceptional consumer virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences targeting five to ten years ~~~ are currently seeking talented Research Engineers and Research Scientists to help develop forward looking graphics pipelines for AR and VR, and solve the next generation of challenges in the visual computing space. The focus of this role is on computer graphics with the primary responsibility being the efficient synthesis of high quality images, including leveraging and developing state of the art techniques. This position requires a background in computer science, computer engineering, or similar areas; and a strong background in graphics, math, and programming.

    Required Skills:

    Research Scientist, Graphics (PhD) Responsibilities:

    1. Initiate and lead research projects in graphics and graphics related machine learning techniques.

    2. Research innovative graphics techniques, algorithms, and tools to maximize rendering quality and efficiency.

    3. Research how perceptual aware rendering can optimize for performance and power in the graphics and display pipeline.

    4. Collaborate with other researchers and engineers to develop innovative technologies that impact the future graphics pipelines.

    5. Interact cross-functionally with peer teams, like hardware, perceptual science, optics, and displays.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in in the field of computer graphics, image processing, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

    2. 3+ years of experience with advanced image synthesis, including rasterization, ray tracing, neural rendering, sampling, physically based shading, level of detail, and image processing.

    3. 3+ years of experience with real-time and/or offline computer graphics.

    4. Experience with C/C++ and Python programming skills.

    5. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

    6. Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Preferred Qualifications

    1. 2+ years of experience with machine learning.

    2. Experience with graphics and GPU APIs like DirectX, Vulkan, Metal and/or CUDA.

    3. Experience in working with machine learning models for real-time graphics.

    4. Experience working on low-level systems software.

    5. Experience in system performance optimizations such as runtime analysis of latency, memory bandwidth, I/O access, compute utilization analysis and associated tooling development.

    6. Experience with GPU hardware architecture, preferably having influenced silicon design along feature and/or performance axes.

    7. Track record of achieving results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as SIGGRAPH, Eurographics, HPG, EGSR, etc.

    8. Publications on machine learning for graphics.

    9. Experience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment.

    Public Compensation:

    $117,000/year to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
