• Research Postdoctoral Fellow - Targeting tumor-promoting cells in rhabdomyosarcoma

    Johns Hopkins UniversityBaltimore, MD 21217

    Job #2707550107

  • A Postdoctoral Research Fellowship position is offered in the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine under the mentorship of Dr. Patience Odeniyide. Our lab is interested in molecularly targeted therapies for rhabdomyosarcomas (RMS) driven by RAS-pathway alterations. We seek to understand how genomic alterations drive cancer phenotypes, and how they can be effectively inhibited by small-molecule therapeutics. Our program is seeking an ambitio us and highly motivated person to lead studies focused on targeting tumor-promoting cancer stem cells in pediatric rhabdomyosarcoma. Tumor-promoting cells drive chemotherapy resistance and treatment relapse and are thus an important RMS subtype to understand and treat. This work will involve studies in human rhabdomyosarcoma cell lines and xenograft models along with molecular biology techniques including RNA/DNA/Protein isolation, sequencing technologies (sc-RNA seq, RNA-seq, WGS), PCR, qPCR, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, immunoblotting, tissue culture and electrophoresis. T he Postdoctoral Research Fellow will be responsible for the conceptualization, design, and statistical analyses of research studies, as well as the drafting of these studies in academic manuscripts. In this role you will also be involved in presenting our research at national and international meetings and conferences such as at CTOS and AACR.

Applicants must have a PhD. and /or M.D. degree (or anticipate receiving their degree in the near future) with less than five years of postdoctoral experience. Applicants should be able to do independent research, a strong interest in interdisciplinary approaches and have published articles in peer-reviewed journals. Training in molecular biology, genomics, or bioinformatics is preferred.

Please send CV and cover letter outlining your experience and interests to Patience Odeniyide: ~~~
