    Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking a Senior Radiological Work Planner (Senior, Senior A, or Principal) to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS).

    The Senior Radiological Work Planner (Senior, Senior A, or Principal) Monitors, analyzes, and investigates workplace activities and potential hazards to support company initiatives within assigned area or facility(s) through review of work packages, assessments, walk downs, and/or observations. Identifies hazardous workplace conditions and/or protects employees by guarding, revising work procedures, and training or requiring use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment. Responsible for identifying hazardous conditions that affect workers, property, the environment, and the general public.

    This particular role will develop work packages for equipment and/or system modification work to be done by non-union operations staff. Work packages include written step-by-step instructions, procedures, safety, and testing requirements within a given area. This Senior Safety & Health Specialist (Senior, Senior A, or Principal) will establish guidance for identification, incorporation, approval, and control of Radiological Control Action Steps and Work Instructions in Technical Work Documents (TWD). Will identify and incorporate Radiological Control Work Instructions, potential hazards with use of the Assisted Hazards Analysis (AHA) process, and review and approve work packages and AHAs.

    Responsibilities

    A Senior Radiological Work Planner:

    • Incorporates conventional Safety and Health (S&H) practices and a variety of complex features into problem solving and programmatic planning where specific detailed objectives are stated.

    • Evaluates proposals within a given specialty and makes recommendations based on proposed projects/tasks.

    • Collaborates with design teams to identify safety and health specifications and design requirements of moderate to high risk for work packages.

    • Conducts facility assessments within a given specialty.

    • Attends facility meetings as requested by management.

    • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understating of company and industry specific regulatory requirements/standards and official interpretations.

    • Identifies innovative materials, systems, and/or processes to enhance the company's safety culture.

    • Utilizes comprehensive experience to develop, implement and maintain safety and health programs, systems and procedures within a specialized field.

    • Provide support to ensure adherence to Department of Energy (DOE) and regulatory requirements while applying and providing expert technical assistance on radiological protection work planning and control through disciplined operations consistent with Savannah River Site (SRS)/Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) procedures and policies.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Additional responsibilities for a Senior Radiological Work Planner A:

    • Conducts facility assessments and/or Manager Field Observations (MFOs).

    • Identifies innovative materials, systems, and/or processes to enhance the company's safety culture.

    • Provides guidance to others including assigning and assessing work, coaching, mentoring, and removing obstacles.

    • Evaluates or delegates proposals and makes recommendations based on proposed projects/tasks. Typically assigned to high risk, critical in scope, work packages.

    Additional Responsibilities for a Principal Radiological Work Planner:

    • Prepares and reviews written programs, job hazard analyses, personal protective equipment assessments and other health and safety program elements. Helps develop and/or reviews health and safety procedures as requested. In addition, may be requested to develop and conduct employee training and perform effectiveness reviews

    • Generates/gathers trending and other performance indicator reports. Presents to Project Directors and company Senior Management. May be asked to compile similar reports for customers and internal stakeholders as requested.

    • Reviews, enters, reports, and/or resolves Site Tracking, Analysis & Reporting (STAR) items regarding Safety and Health and ensures effective controls have been put in place.

    • Serves as Subject Matter Expert for radiological protection for radiological work control activities within a facility.

    • Serves as Subject Matter Expert for radiological protection for AHA work control activities within a facility.

    • Acknowledged as the highest level subject matter expert for the specialty/assigned area.

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma/GED or Associates degree and related experience

    OR

    • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or related science and related experience

    Additional information

    • Must have a flexible schedule to work on-call as delegated by schedule.

    • Internal candidates with experience as a FLM, Radiological Control may also qualify.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Preferred Qualifications for a Senior Radiological Work Planner:

    • Local group recognition as an expert

    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or pursuant thereof

    • Prior work planning and control experience

    • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) Certified

    Preferred Qualifications for a Senior Radiological Work Planner A:

    • Demonstrated S&H experience as a subject matter expert

    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

    Additional Preferred Qualifications for a Principal Radiological Work Planner:

    • Previous experience with advanced S&H theories, concepts and methods; advanced knowledge of related disciplines.

    • Prior experience with compiling, preparing and presenting S&H material to multiple management levels.

    USD $72,936.00/Yr.

    Maximum Pay

    USD $161,736.00/Yr.
