Team or Function Overview

As an R&D intern, you will have the opportunity to participate in meetings, work cross-functionally with other departments, and lead your own projects. Through this process, you will become familiar with the exciting and innovative work carried out by the Commercial R&D group at GAF.

Essential Duties

• Be safety oriented and carry out all job activities with safety as the number one priority

• Observe and evaluate technology trends

• Build an internal and external network

• Conduct research on competitive products and new technologies using a variety of resources including internet, patent databases, and literature review

• Design and perform experiments, interpret and evaluate data, and contribute to written reports

• Learn about the manufacture of roofing products and key performance variables that drive cost and quality outcomes. Use this information to scale up successful lab trials

• Present scientific data to key stakeholders and senior management

• Develop IP for new products or new technologies to ensure successful product launch

Physical Demands

Under This Roof, We Require

The ideal candidate is actively working towards a Bachelor's degree, majoring in Engineering, Applied Science, or Physical Science from an accredited institution. A minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and an anticipated graduation date between December 2025 and May 2026 are required. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now and in the future.

All GAF internship roles are paid at an hourly rate. There are no benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the summer. Transportation, F-1 and HB-1 visa sponsorship will not be provided in association with these positions.
