    Duties of this position include:

    • Reviews all patient care incidents and conducts appropriate root cause analysis and other investigative processes in order to reduce or prevent future patient safety events.
    • Identifies and develops criteria for identifying general areas of potential patient safety risk throughout the facility.
    • Develops and recommends corrective actions using qi methodology to correct problems related to the safe delivery of patient care. Works with Directors and Managers as well as hospital staff and Medical Staff to ensure effective quality care is delivered.
    • Collects and analyzes clinical data in order to evaluate and improve the quality of care.
    • Administers the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Committees.
    • Promotes patient safety and quality improvement awareness throughout the facility through periodic in-services.
    • Develops and monitors a Joint Commission compliant patient safety/QI program for all areas of the facility in order to ensure compliance with NJ Regulations, TJC standards and CMS CoPs.
    • Reviews reports on all product/equipment-related incidents and claims to determine causes and actions to prevent future problems and to minimize product/equipment-related injuries to patients.
    • Determines if an incident requires additional action in compliance with the NJ Patient Safety Act.
    • Works with the VP Patient Care and Safety to develop Matheny's QI Plan and Patient Safety Plan and to implement said plans.
    • Reviews and addresses serious patient care complaints and grievances; responds in writing in a timely manner to patient/guardian. .

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a health related field from an accredited college or university, and at least four years of progressive administrative experience in healthcare quality improvement/patient safety required.

    Master's degree in a health related field from an accredited college or university preferred.

    Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality and/or Certified Professional in Patient Safety preferred.

    Risk management, patient safety and/or quality improvement experience preferred.

    Licensure/Certifications

    Licensed in NJ as a Registered Professional Nurse or Licensed in NJ as a physician or CPHQ or CPPS preferred.
