The Junior Quality Engineer will play a vital role in developing and implementing quality standards for both in-house processes and supplied products. This position involves conducting thorough inspections, performing root cause analysis on customer complaints, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance, be bilingual, and possess excellent analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and Implement Quality Standards
Create and update quality standards and inspection procedures for in-process and supplied products.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
Supplier Quality Assurance
Collaborate with suppliers to
establish
quality requirements for supplied materials.
Conduct supplier audits and performance evaluations.
Implement corrective actions and improvement plans with suppliers.
In-Process Quality Improvement
Monitor and
analyze
in-process quality data to
identify
areas for improvement.
Develop and implement process control plans to enhance product quality.
Train production staff on quality standards and best practices.
Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions
Investigate customer complaints and quality issues to
determine
root causes.
Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Track and report on the effectiveness of corrective actions.
Quality Metrics and Reporting
Monitor key quality metrics such as First Pass Yield (FPY) and in-house scrap rates.
Prepare regular quality reports and present findings to management.
Use statistical methods to
analyze
quality data and drive continuous improvement.
Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, and customer service.
Provide technical support and guidance on quality-related matters.
Communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering
, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
2-3 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with supplier quality management and in-process quality improvement.
Strong knowledge of quality standards, inspection methods, and root cause analysis techniques.
Proficiency
in quality tools and methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, and statistical analysis.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication
skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Bilingual
proficiency
(English and
Spanish)
is
required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the cabinet manufacturing industry.
Certification in Quality Management (e.g., CQE, CQA) is a plus.
Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) such as ISO 9001.
