Job Description

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to join our food manufacturing facility where we make baked goods. You will complete preoperational inspections of facilities and line equipment prior to production start, ensuring there are no complications during production. Ensure that products meet food safety and company specification requirements and standards. Conduct daily verification of Critical Quality Points (CQP) and Critical Control Points (CCP). Input results of floor checks, verifications, audits, and production data into the computer. Perform audits of products including batch controls, component weights, finished weights, and temperature. Conduct internal audits and participate in external audits. Perform foreign material inspection and investigations.

Responsibilities

• Complete preoperational inspections of facilities and line equipment prior to production start.

• Ensure products meet food safety and company specification requirements and standards.

• Conduct daily verification of Critical Quality Points (CQP) and Critical Control Points (CCP).

• Input results of floor checks, verifications, audits, and production data into computer software.

• Perform audits of products including batch controls, component weights, finished weights, and temperature.

• Conduct internal audits and participate in external audits.

• Perform foreign material inspection and investigations.

Must Have Skills

• 1-2 years of experience in quality assurance in a GMP environment.

• Experience performing pre-operational line checks.

• Knowledge of CCP (Critical Control Point), SCAR's (Supplier Corrective Action Reports), and CAPA (Corrective and Preventative Action).

• Ability to work in fridge and freezer environments for a part of the day.

Work Environment

Work in a frozen food manufacturing environment specializing in snacks and hors d'oeuvres. The facility is divided between offices and production areas, with production candidates required to wear lab coats, hairnets, safety shoes, and ear plugs. The production area is fast-paced, cramped, and can be loud with flour dust in the air. You'll work in various sections including a fridge section at 7-8 degrees Celsius and a freezer section at -18 degrees Celsius. Shifts rotate every 2 months between days (4:30 am-1:30 pm) and afternoons (2:30 pm-11:30 pm). Candidates will start on the day shift for around 6-8 months before rotating. This is a long-term opportunity with no layoffs during the slow season.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vaughan, Ontario. We are looking for a long term employee to join our team, this is not a short term position.
