OBJECTIVE
Reporting to the Director of Food Safety and Compliance, the role of the QA/QC Inspector exists to utilize expertise in agricultural inspection and food safety to ensure the highest standards of product quality and integrity. By conducting thorough inspections at farms and packing facilities, evaluating crop conditions, and adhering to state and industry regulations this position ensures compliance with quality standards, and maintains the overall safety and freshness of potato products from field to market.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- HACCP Certificate
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- 3-5 years of agricultural experience inspecting farms, crops, or produce for quality, health, and compliance with industry standards.
- Previous work in a food production or processing facility, focusing on ensuring products meet safety and quality guidelines, such as HACCP, USDA, or FDA standards.
- Familiarity with audits or inspections ensuring compliance with agricultural regulations, environmental policies, or organic certification requirements.
- The ability to frequently communicate complex information and interact with management, while offering training and continual monitoring of employees.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task.
- Proficient in MS Office as well as inventory management software.
- Valid Driver's License and ability to travel domestically.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Travelling between packing facilities with continuous inspection, management and verification of product quality.
- Record inspection results, note any quality or compliance issues, and provide detailed reports to farm managers and regulatory authorities for corrective actions.
- Offer guidance to farmers on improving crop quality, pest management, and sustainable farming practices based on inspection findings and industry best practices.
- Identifying corrective actions relating to results of inspections, including implementing preventative measures and methods to verify the effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Research and understand changing standards as they pertain to potatoes with the FDA and CFIA directives or customer specifications.
- Facilitate facility inspections and audits, including but not limited to 3rd party, FDA and USDA.
