    Primary purpose: Leads Lantana's Project Management Office (PMO), overseeing all aspects of project operations. Creates and maintains best-in-class processes for project management and ensures Project Managers execute well on established guidelines. Oversees resource planning across Lantana's portfolio of projects, monitors project execution, and reports on project health to executive leadership.

    A successful candidate will:

    • Train, mentor, and motivate PMO staff; identify opportunities for their professional growth. Oversee the managing performance of staff, set individual goals, and monitor progress.
    • Facilitate discussions to support the essential project management and coordination functions within PMO and communicate best practices.
    • Aggregate project-status information and key performance indicators into a portfolio view for oversight and reporting to executive leadership. Use project artifacts (such as scorecards, forecasting, and risk logs) as tools to communicate project information.
    • Understand existing resource needs across projects and address planning conflicts with project and people managers. Work across Divisions to strategize and plan new resource needs for current and future work.
    • Perform managerial and administrative functions associated with being a people manager (i.e., approve timesheets and time off, conduct performance reviews, hire, ensure staff adhere to policy and procedures, etc.).
    • Document PMO methodologies and processes.
    • Support workforce planning and hiring activities within the PMO.
    • Instill a culture of process improvement and risk escalation.
    • Ask what and why often to assist PMs in thinking critically about project status.
    • Act and lead with limited oversight.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelors degree in business, science, technology, public health, or related field
    • A minimum of five (5) years' experience directly managing people
    • A minimum of five (5) years' experience leading a PMO for a primarily government-contracting organization
    • A minimum of ten (10) years' experience managing projects for a primarily government-contracting organization
    • Project Management Institute's Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and people-management skills
    • Demonstrated exceptional project-management principles, effective decision-making skills, and ability to guide and mentor staff within a highly matrixed organization
