    Position Description:

    Duties are performed following generally stated objectives for the project or project phases, usually involving frequent conferences with higher level engineering or manufacturing managers. Under general supervision, plans, conducts, and supervises assignment normally involving several smaller projects, or one or more major projects. Estimates number of employees needed and schedules work to meet completion dates and technical specifications. Coordinates and directs other engineers, technicians, designers, drafters, and machine tool programmers assigned to projects; maintains liaison with other departments; reviews progress and evaluates results; makes changes in methods design or equipment when necessary. The Project Engineer operates with appreciable latitude for non-reviewed action or decision. Assignments are broad in nature, and require a high level of evaluation, analysis, originality, and ingenuity.

    Essential Functions:

    · Assists in the development of engineering plans and designs in a particular field for a specific area.

    · Assists in analyzing quotations and bids and in developing recommendations.

    · Analyzes costs for work projects.

    · Performs or assists with equipment and material test studies.

    · Helps identify new business opportunities and formalizes and implements programs intended to capitalize on these opportunities.

    · May visit customer site to review new or existing projects.

    · Prepares verbal and written plans and proposals outlining the project to the customer and to management.

    · Performs project leadership and prepares plans and schedules for coordinating and directing new projects going from prototype stage, through the pilot run stage and into production.

    · Determines appropriate manufacturing processes and tooling requirements, as well as initial material and labor standards.

    · Confers with engineering team, financial personnel, administrative personnel and operational personnel regarding manufacturing capabilities, workforce requirements and equipment needs.

    · Responsible for maintaining customer supplied documentation.

    · Confers with purchasing and/or vendors on materials, components, and subcontract requirements.

    · Performs other related duties as required.

    Requirements:

    • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or requires minimum of two years of technical training and/or minimum of 10 years of experience in design, tool design, engineering technician, or machine tool programming positions and some formal engineering education.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Knowledge of ISO/QS certification-preferably with and through ISO/QS certification
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • PC skills including ERP, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, and Internet/Intranet, is a plus
    • A strong ability to set and prioritize goals
    • Ability to multi-task within a TEAM environment

    Lou-Rich Training Requirements:

    · Applicable training will be completed by following the syllabi (Human Resources, Safety, IFS - Navigation, ISO) for each new hire and that will be verified by the Employee Orientation & Job Qualification form within the first 60 days of employment. Additional applicable training will be completed by following the individual's assigned department training matrix, Engineering (F4400-037).

    · Follow training syllabus (Technical from above list). The effectiveness of training guidelines will be determined by employee knowledge and demonstration of learned concepts. Additional training after the first several weeks of on the job training will be determined by the Supervisor in preparation to operate on their own as needed. Any follow-up training will be evaluated and provided at the 60-day review or as deemed necessary for the position.

    · Training program decided by Business Development Manager.
