Position Overview
The Project Controls Specialist / Contract Administrator position works in unison with the jobsite management teams. The main responsibilities include identification of change conditions of the contract, documentation of notices and processing contract change documents. This position also provides correspondence review and participates in resolution meetings as needed.
Strong communication skills are important, especially the ability to listen and glean the critical elements from descriptions. The ability to read and comprehend contracts quickly is important. A good grasp of estimating and pricing also helps in ensuring costs are properly tabulated and backed up.
District Overview
Kiewit Energy Canada is a major industrial contractor that specializes a wide range of engineering, procurement and construction services to the oil, gas, chemical, ethanol and related process industries. Our projects involve construction of oil sands processing facilities, including steam-assisted gravity drainage facilities, refinery expansions, gas plant expansions, co-generation facilities, major mine developments and pipe spool fabrication.
Location
This position will be project-based. Our projects may be anywhere in Alberta, British Columbia, and beyond. Ability to travel and relocate as-needed is required.
Responsibilities
Working with the project team to develop and regularly update a project-specific Contract Management plan. Communication with Operations personnel to identify issues and changes.
First-draft write-ups of planned and actual conditions for Change narratives
Working with a scheduling expert regarding entitlement to time-related impacts and use of schedule analysis results
Maintenance of project issues and changes logs
Preparation of basic initial notice letters
Identify risk costs for pricing
Identify secondary/ripple impacts
Quantifying and pricing changes or working with team for pricing of complex multidisciplinary issues
Gathering of support/backup information such as production records and project photos
Qualifications
BA/BSc. in engineering, construction management or business with 3-5 years of industry experience OR 5+ years of experience in the construction industry including demonstrated experience in construction contracts and project controls
Experience with Schedule Risk Assessment and Time-Impact Analysis
Possess knowledge of equipment and materials common in the construction industry
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and have a general knowledge of database utilization
Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
Be detail-oriented, flexible, and highly motivated
Have a strong work ethic and professional demeanor
Possess effective time management and organizational skills
Perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Be team player but able to work independently, to meet intense deadlines, goals, and objectives
