Description of Work UnitThe
Office of Student Leadership, Involvement & Community Engagement (SLiCE) is committed to identifying and critically reflecting upon oppressive systems that perpetuate harm in order to construct and foster belonging within purposeful communities. The SLiCE office offers a broad range of programs and services for Colorado State University students, faculty, staff, and the community in the areas of leadership development, student involvement, service and volunteer programs, and basic needs programs and services. Through the programs at SLiCE, students find both support and resources to graduate as engaged, active participants and leaders in their local, national, and global communities. SLiCE provides support and resources to 500+ registered student organizations (RSO).
The mission of the
Lory Student Center (LSC) is to serve as a student-centered organization at the heart of campus, providing programs and services that create an inclusive community and inspire active, engaged learning. As an auxiliary enterprise within the Division of Student Affairs, the LSC is a comprehensive student union recognized nationally as one of the leading university centers. The LSC annual operating budget is approximately $40 million. Nearly 125 full-time career staff and 650 student and hourly staff serve approximately 24,000 people entering the facility on a daily basis and hosts approximately 13,000 annual events and meetings Areas within the Lory Student Center include the CSU Bookstore; Campus Activities; Lory Dining Services; Marketing; Operations; SLiCE; and an extensive array of business and service partners.

Position SummaryThe Program Coordinators are responsible for creating, managing, and implementing programming that prioritizes the intersection of leadership and service as a pathway to student engagement and equity-minded student success.
The Program Coordinators will collaborate closely with each other under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Leadership Engagement. Together, the Program Coordinators will provide oversight and guidance for a large portfolio of existing campus-wide programs that provide students the opportunity to engage in personal, career, and leadership development. These programs include, but are not limited to, Campus Step Up: A Social Justice Retreat, Pot-a-Plant Day, recruitment for 4-6 national leadership conferences per year, Escape Room Experience for Team Dynamics, CSUnity, Ram$ for Change, Project Homeless Connect, and the Putnam Mentorship Program. There is a potential to expand program offerings under the guidance and direction of the Assistant Director for Leadership Engagement.
The Program Coordinators will implement outreach efforts to connect CSU students, Registered Student Organizations, and departments to relevant resources and developmental opportunities related to leadership, community engagement, and professional preparation both within the CSU, Fort Collins, and greater Colorado community and beyond.
The Program Coordinators have the opportunity to collaborate intra- and cross- departmentally to support additional events if needed; these could include the Fall and Spring Involvement Expos, Alternative Spring Breaks, CANS around the Oval, Latinx/e Activism Week, and the ACT Human Rights Film Festival, The Program Coordinators will serve as contributing members of the SLiCE team and will support all department programs as needed, as well as participate in Lory Student Center initiatives such as the SHAPE Training & Talent Development program.
The Program Coordinators will have an abiding concern for, and commitment to, serving the diverse needs of the University community, active promotion of an inclusive environment through SLiCE's mission, vision, values and the CSU Principles of Community, and supporting the Lory Student Center as the focal point of campus life.
Required Job Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree
- One year of full-time experience in Student Affairs (or related field) or 2 years graduate experience
- Demonstrated experience coordinating events with multiple stakeholders and partners
- Demonstrated understanding of leadership, service learning, volunteerism, and/or community engagement as pathways to student involvement and success
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and social justice.
Preferred Job Qualifications- Master's Degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling, or related field by start date.
- Evidence of ability to build and maintain relationships with partners and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing leadership and volunteer programs.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of service learning and leadership education as part of holistic student development and ability to articulate such to a varied public.

Job Duty CategoryProgram and Event Coordination
Duty/Responsibility- CSUnity: a large-scale volunteer plunge event. Central duties include coordinating recruitment of 1000+ student volunteers and matching them to volunteer projects from long-term residents and community non-profit partners.
- Fall Involvement Expo: co-lead this 2-3 day event with the Program Coordinator for Involvement. Recruit and manage participation from 100+ non-profit partners and community agencies to offer their services and resources to current CSU students.
- Ram$ for Change: manage and continue to evolve this volunteer initiative. This program provides an avenue for Registered Student Organizations to earn funds by volunteering with local nonprofits and community agencies fulfilling a enter a service agreement with local nonprofits.
- Project Homeless Connect: Collaborate with community partners to host this annual event. Organize CSU student volunteer recruitment and training to provide individuals and families currently experiencing homelessness with vital resources.
- Putnam Mentorship Program: plan and execute both logistics and content for the Putnam Mentorship Program. Manage the application and selection to match CSU students as mentors to the 5th grade class at Putnam Elementary.
- Leadership & Career Development Conferences: continue to grow our partnerships with the Cultural Resource Centers (CRC's) by organizing the recruitment, application, and selection process for 3-6 leadership and career development conferences over the course of the year that prioritize access to career development for historically marginalized communities.
- Campus Step Up - A Social Justice Retreat: select and train lead facilitators, coordinate all travel logistics, manage participant recruitment and selection for this overnight retreat wherein students will gain a deep understanding of themselves in relation to others, the systems of power we operate within, and explore how to create pockets of liberation.
- Pot-a-Plant Day: partner with the CSU Health Network, ASCSU, and the Northern Colorado Health Project to host this one-day educational event dedicated to cannabis harm reduction strategies.
- Under the direction of the Assistant Director for Leadership Development, oversee re-envisioning of current, or implementation of new, Co-curricular Engagement program experiences and opportunities as determined through assessment, student interest and need, and best practice research.
