    The Fox Center for Humanistic Inquiry is Emory's interdisciplinary hub for the Humanities. We support innovative research across the full range of humanities disciplines, from undergraduates to faculty, and have a vibrant calendar of events designed to engage the entire Emory community and beyond. Each year, we center our activities around a topical theme. Our 2024-25 theme is "Democracy: Past, Present, Future."

    We seek an energetic Program Coordinator with a background in and interest in the Humanities who will support our Senior Program Coordinator as we expand the activities of the Center and its impact within and beyond our campus. This full-time (40 hours per week) fixed-term position reports to the Senior Program Coordinator and is funded through June 30, 2025. The candidate will be expected to live in the Atlanta area and work in-person on Emory's campus.

    The Program Coordinator duties are organizing, coordinating, and planning operational facets of a program and its related activities which include, but are not limited to the following: establishing long-term operational objectives, researching factors that may impact the success of the program, and working with individuals or groups to research and document program requirements in order to provide appropriate input into the development of strategic plans.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develops work plans to accomplish program goals and objectives and monitors progress toward their achievement.

    • Conducts research and gathers information to develop various publications.

    • Develops promotional materials which may include content for reports, briefings, newsletters, grants or other written information related to the program.

    • Assists in developing and coordinating program-related conferences, conventions, or meetings.

    • Monitors expenditures and may participate in the budget planning process and prepare financial reports.

    • May assist in identifying funding resources and developing fund-raising strategies and initiatives.

    • Prepares operational and statistical reports.

    • Conducts training, represents the program at meetings and conferences, and networks with affiliated groups. May supervise assigned project staff, interns and/or volunteers.

    • Performs related responsibilities as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program.

    • Two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS

    The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills in both written and oral forms and a bachelor's degree or higher in a humanities discipline, as well as experience and interest in event coordination and/or program coordination.

    Successful applicants will be highly organized and demonstrate strong attention to detail. An ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams is essential, as is an eagerness to learn new systems and technologies and to problem-solve. Familiarity with the full Microsoft Office suite is required. Experience working in an academic environment is preferred. Bachelor's degree in a humanities field is preferred.

    Specific duties include

    • Supporting the Senior Program Coordinator with logistics and operational planning and execution of FCHI events

    • Being a first point-of-contact for our residential research fellows on matters concerning their program requirements and their use of the Center

    • Responding to emails and phone calls and directing them to the appropriate team member where necessary;

    • Welcoming visitors to the Center; Managing the day-to-day of our offices, including ordering supplies, submitting work orders, and receiving deliveries

    • Processing expenses and reimbursements;Maintaining documentation of all activities;

    • Other duties as assigned.

    NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
