    This position will be filled at either, the Production Control Specialist 1/Production Control Specialist 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

    The Production Systems & Technology team within the Weapons Production Directorate at Los Alamos National Laboratory (TRIAD) is looking for an exceptional Production Control Specialist to join the MRP (Material Resource Planning)/MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Operations Team. We are seeking motivated candidates to fill a Production Control Specialist position to work in a manufacturing environment with an emphasis on electronic production planning, inventory control and shop floor activities.

    If selected, you will safely and compliantly execute the duties listed below:

    Production Control Specialist 1 ($57,800 - $89,500)

    The Production Control Specialist 1 (PCS 1) role is an entry level position within the Integrated Operations Integration Center Group. The selected candidate(s) will have the opportunity to advance to a higher position after demonstrating basic working knowledge of Material Resource Planning.

    Job duties include but are not limited to the following

    • Provides technical support for manufacturing process within the Pit Technologies division.

    • Primarily handles recording keeping in the Oracle Material Resource Planning system.

    • Tracks progress of production floor activities.

    • Provide visibility and insight for leadership in multiple organizations.

    Production Control Specialist 2 ($69,500 - $110,300)

    In addition to what is outlined at the lower level, you will be expected to execute the following:

    • Integrate with other production control, quality, operations, and product engineering personnel to perform production functions.

    • Utilize Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) and MES (Manufacturing Execution System) systems to plan, transact, and perform shop floor functions.

    • Work with all levels of personnel to status work in process (WIP).

    • Troubleshoot and create innovative solutions to shop floor and business process issues.

    • Collect and analyze data that will support management in making the best possible business decisions given limited information and various unknowns.

    What You Need

    Minimum Job Requirements:

    Functionality:

    • Knowledge of produce on planning and scheduling methods.

    • Knowledge of shop floor management and control practices.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing policies, programs, procedures, and practices.

    Material Management:

    Demonstrated ability to manage material in accordance with applicable quality assurance and industry standards.

    Computing/Business Systems:

    Above average computer skills and demonstrated experience with Inventory Control, Material Tracking systems, and various software suites, including but not limited to, Microsoft O?ce, Word, Excel, Access.

    Customer Service:

    Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to provide clear, concise support and guidance to others in sometimes-stressful situations. Experience interacting professionally with all types of personnel, including external interfaces and executive management.

    Communication:

    Demonstrated experience and excellence in interacting and communicating both written and orally with customers in a customer service-related setting. Ability to proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives. Ability to communicate findings and make recommendations.

    Organizational Skills:

    Possess high attention to detail including strong organizational skills, analytical thinking, observational skills, and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to multi-task and adjust to the workings of a dynamic environment.

    Special Skills:

    Strong quantitative and analytical skills; familiar with logistics and production planning concepts (e.g., just-in-time, materials requirement planning).

    Education and Experience for:

    Production Control Specialist 1

    • Position requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience.

    Production Control Specialist 2

    In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:

    Functionality:

    • Broad knowledge of configuration management, change control, and release management processes. Demonstrated working knowledge of production planning and scheduling methods.

    • Demonstrated working knowledge of shop floor management and control practices.

    • Demonstrated adherence to manufacturing policies, programs, procedures, and practices.

    Special Skills:

    Strong quantitative and analytical skills; familiar with logistics and production planning concepts (e.g., just-in-time, materials requirement planning); Experience managing material in a nuclear environment.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Sound knowledge of resource planning and optimization practices as well as multi-organization resource integration processes.

    • Knowledgeable of industry, regulatory, or Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the particular discipline. Enrolled in HRP

    • Active DOE Q clearance.

    Multi-disciplinary Teamwork:

    Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team of system analysts, software developers, system administrators, and professional staff

    Clearance: DOE Q Clearance is highly desirable

    Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

    Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.     Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2.     Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

    *Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

    New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

    Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
