    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Illinois Refining Division is seeking a Process Controls Engineer. This position reports to the Controls Group Supervisor a nd supports process control activities, as a member of an Operating Team, within the Robinson Refinery. Control engineers will apply state-of-the-art technology with regard to process control and optimization to improve process safety and increase efficiency of refining operations.

    Relocation is approved for this position.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain performance of installed controls. Improve stability, robustness, economic performance, and HES performance of existing controls.

    • Identify new (or changes to existing) control solutions to maximize profitability and HES performance.

    • Maintain and improv e the performance of the HMI and Alarm Interface.

    • Pr ovide support to projects associated with new or modified controllers or involving equipment involved in the control system.

    • Act as a lead or a participant in incident investigations and participate in the Management of Change (MOC) process.

    • Enhance refinery economics by maintaining knowledge of Product Control Targets, economic drivers, and constraints limiting profitability. Maintain knowledge of future plans for changing operating conditions and equipment modifications.

    • Support the use of APC applications within IRD.

    • Participate in refinery on-call support program, with on-call assignments rotating weekly between process control group members, to provide off- hours response when needed .

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Minimum (Required) Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or electrical engineering required.

    • Minimum 2 years' experience in refining or petrochemical industry.

    • A valid Driver's License is required upon hire.

    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.

    • Must be a ble to work off-hour duties such as plant shutdowns and routine on-call support.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Prior experience in process controls

    • Proficiency in Experion and TPS/TPN TDC 3000.

    • Experience in writing, reading, and modifying code (VBScript, Java, VBA , Structured Text, etc ).

    • Advanced knowledge in Excel, PI Vision, and/or other data anal ysis software.

    • Knowledge in computer design and fundamental operation.

    • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with both frontline workers and multiple levels of leadership .
