  • The Prevention Educator is responsible for planning, developing, scheduling, managing, and facilitating the agency’s primary prevention, community education/awareness, and training programs as assigned by their Division Director.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepare and deliver community education programs to staff, students, the general public, professionals, and volunteers.
    • Ensure fidelity and compliance with all programs and training.
    • Develop and implement all assessments and surveys necessary to track and measure program impact and outcomes.
    • Demonstrate a clear understanding of and commitment to prevention, community organizing, and community planning.
    • Develop and maintain all primary prevention and community education pamphlets as needed.
    • Develop expertise in program evaluation and demonstrate that prevention strategies reduce risk factors and increase protective factors.
    • Build, cultivate, and maintain relationships with all possible program partners such as schools and other agencies.
    • Work with evaluators to insure that the evaluation plan is being followed, when appropriate.
    • Compile statistical and other information and complete monthly and quarterly reports for assigned grant programs/projects in a timely manner.
    • Consistently track and maintain program data related to reporting, evaluation, and all other requests from Agency supervisors.
    • Maintain and develop a database of current and prospective training contacts and locations.
    • Actively pursue, represent the agency, and participate in primary prevention speaking engagements.
    • Manage and maintain all program schedules and grant requirements.
    • The perfect candidate will be comfortable speaking to a diverse audience and be able to motivate and educate members from all segments of the community.
    • Work collaboratively and seamlessly with staff, key stake holders, and community members.
    • Participate and/or coordinate Community Health Fairs as assigned.
    • Ensure all programs and activities are implemented with excellence.
    • Take a proactive role in their own professional development as demonstrated by mastering new skills, taking on challenging tasks, and asking for help.
    • Ensures all training and curriculum are updated and maintained to ensure program fidelity.
    • This is a non-supervisory position. However, it may involve supervising interns on occasion.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    Bachelor’s degree required; Masters a plus; Experience related to prevention, education, community health education, and public health preferred; Bilingual Spanish preferred.

    TRAVEL: Domestic travel may be required for this full-time position. Local, independent travel is required.

    EVENING AND WEEKEND AVAILABILITY: Must be available evenings and weekends

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $38,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
