Press Operator

Position Summary

Under supervision: Operates and assists in setups for power punch press that automatically feeds steel blanks or steel coils.

Essential Job Functions

• Adjusts feeder to synchronize action of feed bar or pinch rollers with feed and takeoff conveyor and automatic action of ram.
• Assists in installing die in press, using gauges and hand tools.
• Position’s clamp and feed guides.
• Threads metal strip from payout reel through pinch rollers.
• Cleans around work areas.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• HS grad or equivalent.
• Ability to use basic measuring tools.
• Good mechanical skills.
• Willing to take PMA training.
• Must satisfy quality standards.
• Communicates ideas to improve the organization.
• Can clearly communicate orally and in writing.
• Manifests non-violent behavior.
• Uses clear independent thinking.
• Must have regular attendance.
• Must start work on time.
• Must work the scheduled shift.
• Must conform to current environmental standards.

Physical Demands

• Stand, walk, push, reach overhead and bend to the floor.
• Lifting to 35 pounds.
• Exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally.
• Exert 25 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
• Exert up to 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
