Job Description
This position is within the Renewable Resources and Enabling Sciences Center, at NREL which is part of the Bioenergy Science and Technology Directorate.
About the project : Bioligands, such as proteins, peptides, and small molecules, hold tremendous potential to enable environmentally sustainable extraction or separations of critical materials, including rare earth elements and others essential to the US clean energy transition. The overall objective of this project is to develop bioligands with high selectivity and other industrially-relevant properties. The successful candidate in this position will work closely with data scientists to develop high-throughput screening assays and evaluate performance of computationally-predicted protein libraries. Additionally, the successful candidate will apply protein engineering and evolution principles to create bioligands with improved features. This position is part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers. The successful candidate will publish peer-reviewed journal articles and present their work at conferences.

Basic Qualifications
Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.

Protein and peptide purification
Binding assay experience (e.g., biochemical and spectroscopic readouts)

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Job Profile: Postdoctoral Researcher / Annual Salary Range: $73,200 - $120,800
NREL takes into consideration a candidate's education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee's salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
