    This position exists to perform skilled installation of plumbing systems, to provide lead work and direction to licensed plumbers, unlicensed plumbers, other skilled trade workers, and incarcerated individuals in the completion of plumbing projects and to inspect all plumbing projects and repairs either existing or new.

    This position has direct contact with incarcerated individuals.

    Minimum Qualifications

    To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.

    • Possession of Minnesota Master Plumber's License

    • Valid Minnesota Class D Driver's license

    • Leadership skills sufficient to provide leadwork direction that includes prioritizing and assigning job duties, directing for a lead worker, guiding, and reporting on work activities of other staff.

    Preferred Qualifications

    The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position

    • Commercial plumbing experience

    • Experience working with electronic controlled plumbing

    • Experience working in a correctional facility

    • Ability to read blueprints as well as work from sketches and drawings that can be used for approval by plumbing authority both local and state.

    • Ability to make sketches and prepare specifications

    • Ability to maintain and repair hand tools and welding equipment

    • Ability to accurately maintain plumbing project records

    • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to safely and efficiently perform the job duties

    • Experience working with local and state regulatory authority with plumbing permits, plan review, and inspection.

    Physical Requirements

    The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components may consist of a tuberculosis screening, commercial drivers license (CDL) drug test, and/or respirator clearance.     Additional Requirements

    The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

    Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.

    New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
