    Within the Plant Engineering organization, the Zone Teams are the front-line interface with Engineering, Maintenance, Facility Management, and Plant Management, and operate to provide a consistent approach to engineering activities in the WTP facilities. As a Plant Engineer within the Zone Team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting, coordinating, and implementing engineering activities within the assigned zone for Balance of Facilities (BOF) and the Analytical Laboratory (LAB). This dynamic position involves various tasks utilizing engineering, regulatory, and codes and standards related to equipment and system operations. The role requires strong planning and organizational skills, the ability to provide detailed technical advice, and proficiency in producing comprehensive documentation. This position may require work on a rotating dayshift (4 on/ 4 off).

    Typical activities for Zone Team members include the following

    • Work with Engineering, Maintenance, and Facility and Plant Management to prioritize and complete maintenance and engineering work activities

    • Progressing and coordinating Plant Engineering production control schedule priorities

    • Deconflicting issues within the assigned zone

    • Developing system/component knowledge to become a subject matter expert

    • Providing oversight and technical guidance in development and performance of work within the zone

    • Troubleshooting in the field as needed

    • Exhibiting ownership, track, and report status daily, and help improve processes

    • Maintenance and planning coordination within the assigned zone including preventative and corrective maintenance

    • Refining/optimizing the preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance strategies

    • Soliciting technical support from System Engineers or other technical resources as needed

    This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

    • Provide on-site Design Technical Authority support of field work, integrating project activities, repairs, and equipment operations to support operations, maintenance, and commissioning of WTP Facilities

    • Provide engineering support to superintendents, planners, and craft personnel to meet cost and time schedules, ensuring materials, parts, equipment, and quality adhere to design requirements

    • Participate in the review and input of tracking schedules and reports for T-Week and Milestone schedules

    • Support the development of work plans, work package preparation, system/equipment maintenance and testing, document inspections, report progress, and resolve conflicts in design and maintenance related to BOF/LAB equipment and commodities

    • Provide technical review of facility/system-related procedures and work instructions

    • Review Project design and other documents for impacts on operations, maintenance, and testing, offering alternative solutions

    • Conduct inspections of maintenance work in progress and support to the development of post-maintenance test packages for quality and conformance to specifications and codes

    • Coordinate with Operations to ensure plant conditions allow scheduled work to be performed

    • Assist with technical coordination for lock-out and tag-out program activities, including addressing alarm deviations

    • Assist in resolving design issues affecting plant operations and maintenance

    • Assist engineers in determining operability and correcting out-of-specification conditions

    • Assess anomalies or degraded conditions in facilities, systems, and/or processes and resolve condition report issues

    • Implement assigned Plant Engineering program elements and review/concur with engineering technical documents

    • Stay informed about operational status and ongoing modification activities

    • Ensure timely and accurate oral and written technical reports on assigned activities

    • Complete required training and maintain qualifications associated with assignments

    • Coordinate and Interface with Maintenance, Subcontractors, Vendor Technical Advisors, Facility Management, Plant Management, Client personnel, Work Week, and Project Controls groups and provide leadership in a team-based environment

    REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS

    Education:

    • Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or related science from a four-year accredited college or university

    Experience:

    • Minimum of seven years of professional experience

    • Working in a field maintenance or construction environment interpreting specification, procedures, vendor drawings and installation instructions and codes

    • Scoping, preparation, execution, maintenance, troubleshooting, and restoration of mechanical, electrical, and process systems and equipment (motors, pumps, boilers, compressors, MCC/Switchboards, etc.)

    • Working closely with diverse maintenance disciplines, craftsmen, and oversight organizations

    • Strong ability to troubleshoot various industrial/process equipment

    • Strong ability to read, understand, and interpret mechanical/piping, electrical, and instrumentation installation/maintenance drawings

    • Strong understanding of change management and configuration control processes

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Proficiency in Microsoft application suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)

    Preferred Experience:

    • Experience in processing facilities, DOE facilities, or DOD facilities

    • Knowledge of project/Hanford specific environmental compliance requirements.

    • Experience with mechanical equipment associated with nuclear processes and maintenance knowledge preferred.

    • Experience with, or working knowledge of, Champs/CMMS, Advanced Work Packaging and associated applications, automation tools, and work practices.

    • Experience with national consensus codes and standards

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    (EFNM) Exposed Field Non-Manual- Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.

    This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    Must be able to work in the United States without Sponsorship

    Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site .

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

    HIRING SALARY RANGE: $99,193.03 - $154,255.09 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
