    MetroHealthCleveland, OH 44101

    Job #2707952466

  • The Department of Radiation Oncology at MetroHealth Medical Center (MHMC), a principal teaching hospital of Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, is seeking applications for an academic faculty position for the Department of Radiation Oncology. Located in Cleveland, OH, MHMC seeks a physician with a proven track record of clinical expertise and academic accomplishment. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with surgical oncology, gynecologic oncology, and medical oncology specialists within our cancer center; and be expected to participate in the strategic initiative of membership in the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The Radiation Oncology clinic is equipped with two Varian linear accelerators (TrueBeam and Trilogy) with cone beam CT and volumetric arc-based treatment capabilities, a recently upgraded Philips Brilliance Big Bore 16 CT simulator, and a Varian Bravos HDR remote afterloader unit. The TrueBeam platform has been outfitted with advanced imaging capabilities and is supports radiosurgery (Varian HyperArc), as well as dynamic fiducial tracking, breath holding, and respiratory gating. The department is currently an all-Varian facility, utilizing both Aria and Eclipse as their primary EMR and treatment planning system (TPS), respectively. Aria interfaces with Epic, the MHMC hospital EMR. MIM software is used to compliment the TPS and enhance patient care. As part of a campus transformation program, the department will soon migrate to a newly constructed Apex campus facility, directly adjacent to MHMC's new hospital, the Glick Center.

Our Cancer Center has demonstrated clinical expertise, especially in the areas of breast, head and neck, genitourinary, gynecological, hematologic, pulmonary, and gastrointestinal malignancies and aspires to broaden programs in all subspecialties. The Cancer Center holds 15 subspecialty multi-disciplinary tumor boards, and the Department strives to provide disease specific expertise. MHMC is certified by the ACOSOG's Commission on Cancer as an Academic Comprehensive Cancer Program, and the breast program is NAPBC accredited.

Clinical research is an integral component of the MetroHealth Cancer Center and an area of growth for Radiation Oncology. After holding the ECOG Cooperative Group grant at MetroHealth for 38 years, the Cancer Center is now a full partner (Lead Academic Participating Site) in the Case Western Reserve University National Clinical Trials Network grant. With the assistance of the MHMC oncology research team, faculty members are expected to enroll their patients in NCI, pharmaceutical-sponsored, and investigator-initiated studies. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience and involvement in clinical trials. As a safety net hospital system, MHMC's mission is to serve the underserved population and address health care disparities, positioning the institution to pursue research in this area and add to clinical trial representation.
