    Job Summary :

    The Clinical Nurse Navigator for Women's Services serves as a single point of contact for referring physicians, patients, and caregivers, enhancing communication between disciplines. This role provides resources and assistance with accessing clinical and supportive prenatal and postpartum care services. The individual in this role has sufficient knowledge and experience in the care of the maternity population, and is able to work collaboratively with physicians and staff regarding standards of care and implementation of evidence-based practice. This position partners with physicians, lactation consultants, and nursing to provide health education for both pre-care and post care including physical, psychological, spiritual, and emotional well-being.

    Minimum Qualifications :

    Education: BSN from an accredited nursing school.

    Experience: At least three years of recent direct patient care experience as a clinician in labor and delivery and/or mother/baby. Experience with normal newborn care and lactation is strongly preferred. Experience or knowledge of community resources is desired.

    Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina or holds a current compact/multi-state license as a Registered Nurse in a recognized NCSBN Compact State and is not a permanent resident of SC. Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card. Specialty certification strongly desired or needs to complete within 6 months of hire.

    Primary Source Verification: SC Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR): ~~~- or compact RN state licensing board.

    Knowledge/Skills: Thorough knowledge of prenatal and postpartum treatment and care. Thorough knowledge of current evidence-based practice and standards of care for maternal and neonatal populations and maintenance of related educational and credentialing requirements. Knowledge of the professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions. Skill in preparing and maintaining records and writing reports. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, hospital, medical staff, community organizations, and the public. Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking. Ability to communicate clearly and react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Must have a proven track record of excellent communication skills with patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
