  • What You Will Do

    Come join our team! The Performance Assurance (PA) Group Leader will serve as a member of the Institutional Quality and Performance Assurance (IQPA) management team to plan, coordinate, and manage the institutional performance assurance program and operations providing strong customer engagement and interfaces. We are seeking a highly motivated, self-starter with advanced knowledge of performance assurance who can lead the development and implementation of cutting-edge programs and tools to provide a customer facing contractor assurance system (CAS). The portfolio of programs includes occurrence reporting and processing system (ORPS), causal analysis, issues management, lessons learned, risk management, and institutional assessments. The PA Group Leader will report to the IQPA Division Leader. Your responsibilities include:

    • Implement and oversee successful programs in performance assurance, risk management, lessons learned, and occurrence reporting, in a way that demonstrates strategic vision, tactical implementation skills, and responsiveness to the needs of our customers and institution.

    • Support the Laboratory mission by providing expert level performance assurance support, executing strategic leadership, facilitating improvement, strengthening culture, and advancing the Laboratory's growth as a learning organization.

    • Overall management of the IQPA-PA Group to include the relevant policies, tools, processes, and personnel hiring and development, in alignment with the values of people first, mission foremost, and always do the right thing.

    What You Need

    Minimum Job Requirements:

    Technical Leadership: Advanced-level experience leading technical operations and demonstrating effective decision-making and creative problem-solving including skills in researching and recommending alternative solutions to problems and ability to clarify technical program requirements for a tailored application.

    Staffing and Budget Experience: Experience as a line manager hiring, supervising, and developing staff and the planning and execution of developing and implementing staffing and budget plans, and then delivering the necessary support to programs with diverse needs.

    Collaboration and Coalition Building: Advanced experience with team building and collaboration to develop, implement, and manage innovative requirements-based process improvements.

    Communication: Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills that includes reporting on operations and business programs to Federal oversight partners and program owners, higher-level management, customers and stakeholders.

    Leadership/Influence: Expert-level experience managing change and demonstrated ability to influence senior management and stakeholders regarding program implementation and support planning.

    Clearance: Active Q Clearance or the ability to obtain DOE Q Clearance, which typically requires U.S. citizenship.

    Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and 12 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. A master's degree in business or relevant field is preferred.

    Desired Qualifications:

    LANL Mission/DOE/NNSA: Demonstrated knowledge with the LANL mission and programs, Laboratory Agenda, to include to include business, operations, programmatic missions, goals, commitments, critical issues and experience with the Department of Energy complex and directives including: SD 226.1C, NNSA Site Governance; DOE O 414.1D Admin Chg. 1, and other related directives.

    Lean/Process Improvement: Applied experience using Lean Six Sigma or other tools and methods to eliminate problems, remove waste and inefficiency, and improve working conditions to provide a better response to customers' needs.

    Essential Job Functions (can perform with or without reasonable accommodation): Sitting, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, twisting the trunk or back, lifting 30+ pounds, carrying 1-5 pounds.

    Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

    Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

    Additional Details

    Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

    Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

    *Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

    New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

    Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

    Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.     Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
