Job Description:

TELEPHONE & PAGE OPERATOR

Answers all incoming lines on switchboard console and connects to appropriate extension or trunk line. Uses proper terminology and informs caller on wait-time.

Responds to all emergency situations and follow procedures as posted.

Pages physicians and staff as requested through computerized paging system. Requires knowledge of names, extension numbers, ID numbers and terminology which pertain to specific shifts.

Screens calls according to individual office instructions in order to determine emergencies and other situations which require immediate action or notification of physician. Types all messages into the system using appropriate ID numbers and appropriate information. Responsible for following up on emergency messages.
