  • Overview:

    The Payroll Specialist II performs a variety of record-keeping and payroll processing activities including computing wage and overtime payments, calculating, and recording payroll deductions, processing requests for paychecks, and processing terminations. Although duties normally follow established procedures, responsibilities may include routine, minor corrections to make documents acceptable for processing.

    Location: Remote

    Responsibilities:

    • Performs wage and compensation review, auditing, maintenance, and payment of hours, earnings, bonuses, commissions, and business allowances

    • Maintains employee records including new hire tax setup for state and local taxes, vacation accruals, business allowance payments, work location changes, employee status changes including promotions, demotions and terminations, and employee deductions

    • Responds to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters via phone and email

    • Reviews and verifies employee timecards in the payroll system, verifies approvals, and researches and resolves disagreements

    • Researches and resolves payroll audit reports

    • Prepares off-cycle checks including corrections, reissues (stop payments), suspensions, and bonuses/commissions for leaves and terminations

    • Works closely with Human Resources and Accounting on all payroll-related issues

    • Interprets policies, procedures, and guidelines

    • Researches and resolves overpayment and underpayment issues

    • Calculates and pays regular rate of pay adjustments

    • Assists with year-end payroll processing

    • Maintains knowledge of payroll compliance changes

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or GED

    • 2-4+ years of related experience and/or training within payroll operations

    • Excel experience required

    • Ability to communicate clearly, timely, and accurately

    • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment

    • Ability to organize workload, adapt quickly to change, and deliver under the pressure of deadlines

    • Ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment

    • Ability to maintain confidentially is mandatory

    • Ability to communicate clearly, timely, and accurately

    • Must have good organizational skills

    • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships

    Salary Range:

    The hourly rate for this position is anticipated to range between $20.00 - $30.00 per hour.

    Pay is based on qualifications necessary for the position, including experience, training and other considerations permitted by law. We consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with applicable law.
