    This role is based in our Mississauga, ON office in our hybrid work environment and reports into the Senior Payroll Manager.

    Canada Payroll Processing and Payroll Accounting - 60%

    • Manage global payroll processes timely and accurately in accordance to established deadlines.

    • Timely, accurate and complete payrolls with constant focus on process improvement

    • Maintain full calendar of all necessary deadlines.

    • Respond to employee and manager inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns within established SLA's.

    • Investigate payroll incidents, perform root cause analysis and implement process improvements.

    • Manage all expatriate payrolls. Partner with external accounting firms to facilitate all necessary requirements for shadow payrolls and proper local taxation.

    • Set internal control procedure in accordance with management and internal audit expectations. Ensure continuous compliance.

    • Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of processes and practices to ensure quality and consistency and delivery against defined targets.

    • Establish and maintain all standards of customer service within the payroll team providing best in class customer service.

    • Maintain current payroll/HCM functions to comply with legislative requirements.

    • Reconcile payroll at year-end, including PIER, T4s, and T2200.

    • Handle fiscal year-end and audit tasks related to payroll.

    • Utilize Workday reporting for quarterly and year end tax adjustments

    • Maintain standards for garnishment processing.

    • Maintain documentation of all payroll SOPs ensuring consistent & repeatable processes

    • Process ROE's timely and investigate and discrepancies.

    • Full knowledge and understanding of Canada Vacation accruals and legislations.

    International Payroll Tax - 30%

    • Submit monthly, quarterly and annually tax filings for Canada including T4s/RL-1.

    • Ensure processing and remittance of Workers Comp and other local tax for Canada.

    • Administer all payroll and payroll tax accounting processes.

    • Manage tax requirements for each province .

    • Provide continuous review of all taxes under OneSource Virtual (OSV) responsibility.

    • Maintain payment schedules for all taxes not directly processed by OneSource Virtual (OSV)

    • Respond to payroll tax related cases within established SLA's.

    • Complete registrations for all necessary locations

    • Establish tax configuration standards for the HR Shared Services team, ensuring accurate application of all Federal, State and local tax requirements.

    • Enter international payrolls by deadlines in HSBC.

    Legal Compliance and Internal Controls - 10%

    • Maintain standards for all garnishment processing

    • Act as the key liaison for internal and external payroll related audits

    • Implement controls where needed to ensure accuracy of processes and financial statement.

    • Understands and interprets multiple labour agreements, statutory legislation, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance regarding pay, deductions, benefits, and taxes and documentation and escalates/resolves discrepancies as needed.

    Must have:

    • Experience processing end to end payroll in large corporation.

    • Knowledge of payroll processes, statutory laws, and labour agreements with the ability to track, maintain and submit all necessary documentation to meet deadlines and requirements.

    • Experience with and knowledge of preparing, reconciling, and submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external remittances.

    • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting required or equivalent 5+ years of experience

    • Knowledge of accounting related to payroll processing. Understanding the process from beginning to end.

    • Advanced Excel skills, strong database knowledge and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

    Preferred skills and experience:

    • Understanding of CAN garnishments

    • Bi-lingual French and English

    • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred

    • Self-motivated, organized, and effectively achieves team goals

    • Strong ability to multi-task

    • Excellent team player who works well in a collaborative environment

    • Ability to work effectively with external partners as well as internal employees

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of processes and practices to ensure quality and consistency and delivery against defined targets.

    • Ability to demonstrate independent, objective, open-minded thinking with strong attention to detail and sound judgement.

    • Experience with Workday payroll system highly preferred

    • Solid background in process improvement, project management and execution of company initiatives
