POSITION SUMMARY:This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Payroll and Benefits Administrator performs a wide variety of record keeping, compliance reporting, benefit and payroll processing activities. This position serves a key link between Finance and Human Resources departments. As a member of the Human Resources team, this position interacts with all levels of employees and has a strong understanding of the organization's mission.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Three to five years of payroll experience required.
• Requires computer literacy of word and spreadsheet software and recordkeeping and bookkeeping principles.
• Must be highly organized, detail oriented, with accurate data entry skills
• Able to meet deadlines as necessary.
• Effectively work with minimal supervision.
• Exercise sound judgment when making decisions.
• Must posses exceptional communication skills both verbal and written.
• Must be a good problem solver/creative thinker.
• Must posses a "Can-do" attitude, pro-active and resourceful.
• Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
• Build positive working relationships with employees at all levels within the organization
• Meet the Association's policies on background screening
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Usual office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, communicate, reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls. Minimum physical exertion. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 75% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, 10-key calculator, phone, and similar machines.
