  • Aston Carter's client is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Administrator to join their team on a 6-month contract-to-hire basis, with the intent to go permanent.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Role Breakdown

    • 60% Payroll and Benefits Administration

    • 30% Payroll Accounting

    • 10% General Administrative Tasks

    • Process hourly and salary payrolls, including new hires, terminations, rate changes, and garnishments.

    • Maintain employee data in payroll, benefits, and timekeeping systems.

    • Instruct employees and supervisors on the use of the timekeeping system.

    • Prepare and process payrolls for three entities, including taxable benefits and year-end documentation.

    • Ensure accurate vacation accruals and remittances to external agencies.

    • Complete Records of Employment and wage verification forms.

    • Maintain a secure filing system for payroll and benefits documents.

    • Generate various HR, payroll, and benefits reports and participate in audits.

    • Process invoices related to pay and benefits, reconciling accounts as needed.

    • Support HR and accounting teams with projects and initiatives, and serve as a backup for Accounts Payable.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    Must Haves

    • Minimum 1-2 years applicable experience.

    • Comprehensive understanding of payroll legislation, employment standards, payroll accounting, and working knowledge of employee benefit programs.

    • Solid understanding of basic accounting and the manual payroll process.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. (Excel testing required)

    • Strong interpersonal skills. (verbal and written)

    • Mid-size ERP experience.

    Nice to Have

    • Ceridian or ADP Workforce Now experience.

    • Canadian Payroll Association Certification or working towards certification.
