    Paynesville Area Elementary SchoolPaynesville Area Community Education is in search of PAWS Assistants for the 2024-25 School Year.

    JOB SUMMARY: Assist the Site Leader in meeting the mission of the PAWS School Age Child Care Program for the residents of the Paynesville Area School District.

    ASSIGNMENT: September-May

    Before School times: 6:15 am - 8:15 am

    After School Times: 2:30 pm - 6:00 pm

    Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Community Education.

    % of Time

    MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

    100% Works cooperatively with the PAWS Site Leader & PAWS Coordinator to plan, implement, and evaluate, program activities and the environment.

    A. Independent supervision and behavior management of a group of children

    B. Guiding and providing direction to PAWS High School Program Aides.

    C. Responsibilities will include, but are not be limited to supervising school-age children at all times

    D. Keeping program supplies and snacks in order and inform coordinator when they are running low.

    E. Participate in all activities with children.

    F. Attend staff meetings and training programs.

    G. Keeping PAWS Site Leader and PAWS Coordinator informed of any accidents or unusual situations involving the children

    H. Keeping communication open with PAWS Site Leader, PAWS Coordinator and Community

    Education Director concerning questions or concerns.

    CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE

    Physical Involvement:

    A. Requires vitality to accomplish numerous tasks and processes.

    B. Position requires extended periods of standing when directing or leading an activity.

    C. Occasionally requires extended periods of sitting during meetings and desk work.

    D. Frequently requires bending, stooping, or sitting on the floor to perform classroom activities or to provide one on one assistance.

    E. Frequently performs keyboarding activities for program planning.

    F. May lift equipment or supplies typically not to exceed 25 pounds.

    Mental Involvement:

    A. Position requires working with many children who have varying levels of abilities and skills.

    B. Position requires the ability to work with interruptions, handle multiple tasks and organize and prioritize work assignments.

    C. Position requires interpersonal and conflict resolution skills in dealing with students and parents.

    D. Position requires prioritizing work duties, organizing classroom settings, and taking initiative to explore new activities and ideas to enhance student learning.

    Working Conditions:

    Normal classroom conditions with periods of outdoor recreation programming and supervision.

    Staff Management

    1. Assist the PAWS Site Leader in guiding and providing direction to PAWS High School Program Aides

    Public Relations

    1. Become familiar with the social and economic character of the community.
    2. Establish a good working relationship with the school staff, community organizations and District 741 residents.
    3. Help promote awareness of PAWS Programs & Activities within the community.

    Administration

    1. Participate in the development of long range program goals for the PAWS Program.
    2. Assist the PAWS Site Leader, PAWS Coordinator & Director in evaluating PAWS Program Offerings.

    MIMUMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

    A. High school graduate or equivalent.

    Experience:

    A. Childcare programming experience preferred

    Special Knowledge or Skills:

    A. Ability to communicate effectively.

    B. Ability to follow directions.

    C. First Aid training is required for all PAWS employees

    D. CPR training is required for all PAWS employees

    Equipment, Machines, Tools, Electronic Devices, Software:

    A. Computer is used on a regular basis.

    B. Printer is used on a regular basis.

    C. Calculator is used occasionally.

    B. Support the community education philosophy to the public.
