  • Responsible for the safe, courteous and timely "patient centered" transport of patients, visitors and various forms of clinical information within the campus. Performs on-going continuous training and retraining under the direction of the Certified Healthcare Transport Instructor. Provides transport training to all new hires as well as Environmental Care Assistants within 90 days of hire. Provides on-going, continuous training of all staff trained to transport on new equipment, new procedures and protocols. Escorts ambulatory patients. Performs surface to surface transfer of patients during the transport process as required. Transfers all patients and related items using appropriate equipment including: SLIPP Sheets, Slide Boards, Hover Mat, beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, Hoyer Lifts, and patient room ceiling lifts. Support nursing with "Vented Patients" and respond to outside patient transport requests. Maintain stretchers, stretcher mattresses, and wheelchairs, IV poles and bases, O2 holders, including inventory, preventive maintenance, and cleaning, disinfect, and "make up" stretchers with sheets. Exchange mattresses as requested on floor. High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. Previous hospital experience preferred. On the job training provided. Ability to read written instructions and comprehend verbal instructions. Ability to work independently. Ability to exercise good judgment and to handle confidential material with maturity, sensitivity and discretion. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Duties involve heavy lifting/pushing/pulling of bulky materials, at times push up to greater than 500 pounds. Body Mechanics, Safe Patient Transfer Training. O2 gauge handling. Within 90 days of hire will take the following certification programs: BLS (Basic Life Support Certification) Certification CHT (Certified Healthcare Transporter) Certification Body Mechanics; Safe Patient Transfer Training
