Essential Functions
Coordinates appointment scheduling and follows the provider's scheduling needs. Maintains timely flow of patients.
Assists the provider and nurse with other support duties as time allows, including but not limited to: making copies, opening mail, fax items, print forms, scanning into charts.
Answers the provider's lines. Does not leave caller on hold or unattended for extended periods of time. Alerts appropriate personnel to urgent messages/issues that require immediate attention.
Provides information to patients/visitors within scope of knowledge or refers to appropriate individuals. Prior to each visit, update insurance and patient demographics, print an encounter form and sign the consents. Scan insurance cards, driver's license, and consent form. At the visit collect the co-pays or co-insurance and any old balance. Prints or sends via portal the patient visit summaries.
Makes follow-up phone calls as advised by physician or nurse.
Greets patients, visitors, and co-workers in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of equipment and ordering supplies for the department.
Files and retrieves patient medical records. Maintains adequate filing and retrieval systems to assure prompt availability of records.
Scans reports received into the appropriate patient chart.
Copies medical records for patients at their request for transfer of records following established policies and procedures.
Accurately scans in reports and forms.
Faxes necessary medical record information to satellite clinic location.
Responsible for producing forms for the clinic.
Print and distribute transcribed dictation, letters, i.e. correspondence.
Enters personal checks onto the patients account (if applicable). Enters charges (if applicable).
Explains and enrolls patients into AveraChart patient portal.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
