    Classification: Part-Time (10-17 hours of teaching per week)

    The Peabody Preparatory is pleased to announce a part-time Piano Faculty position in the Piano Department at the Peabody Preparatory, with an anticipated start date of January 2025. The successful candidate will join a highly skilled and dedicated piano faculty as part of a vibrant and active department committed to helping students of all levels achieve their potential. We embrace the novice musician as well as the serious student aspiring toward a career in music.

    Ideal candidates should be experienced in teaching students of all ages and levels (beginner to advanced) as part of the Peabody Preparatory's Piano Department. Candidates should be comfortable teaching private piano lessons and small group classes as well as adult learners. Additional opportunities to develop classes and workshops according to candidate experience and interest may be available. Special consideration will be given to applicants with group class teaching experience and interest.

    We are actively seeking instructors for our Towson Campus, located at 949 Dulaney Valley Road, Towson, MD 21204, and our Downtown Campus, located at 1 E. Mount Vernon Place, Baltimore, MD, 21202. Teachers set their own teaching schedules (subject to space availability), but after-school and/or Saturday hours will be required to meet student needs. The potential exists for this position to grow into a full-time appointment depending on candidate qualifications and departmental need.

    Duties

    • Teach private piano lessons to students aged 5 years and older, including adults, at all skill levels ranging from beginner to advanced levels during the fall and spring semesters (32 weeks).

    • Additional teaching opportunities are available during the summer (6-8 weeks).

    • Participate in and assist with end-of-semester performances.

    • Attend occasional faculty meetings.

    • Other appropriate assignments by agreement (e.g., group piano, summer programs).

    • Opportunities may be available for candidate to develop classes and workshops according to their experience and interest.

    • Master's degree in piano performance and/or pedagogy is required.

    • Doctorate degree or equivalent experience and training is highly preferred.

    • Documented successful teaching experience required.

    • Documented successful performing experience encouraged.
