    Administrative Assistant Job Description

    • Serve as receptionist for the church-answer telephone, check voicemail, take messages, and direct calls to the appropriate person

    • Access the Internet ONLY for church-related matters of interest-email account, church website, district, and conference website, etc.

    • Access the church's email account and respond appropriately

    • Prepare, and print weekly worship bulletins and materials for other occasions and activities

    • Sort mail and put in the appropriate mailboxes/slots (check the outside mailbox daily)

    • Prepare and print reports for the annual church conference

    • Keep church calendar and nursing home list up-to-date

    • Prepare PowerPoint slides for events as needed

    • Update the church membership directory, mailing list, and membership records

    • Communicate with the treasurer regarding supplies of stamps and postage due. (Maintain receipts of petty cash use and give to the treasurer when cash needs to be replenished)

    • Print, and mail/email weekly Update (newsletter) (mail to shut-in members)

    • Responsible for keeping office files up to date while creating new ones as needed; backing up computer files with a flash drive and external hard drive regularly

    • Responsible for managing, cleaning, and keeping the office tidy

    • Do periodic inventory and order office supplies as needed

    • Keep bulletin boards up-to-date.

    • Organize and maintain the church calendar:

    • Coordinate and schedule groups/ meetings on the calendar

    • Other duties as assigned by the pastor and authorized personnel

    REQUIRED SKILLS

    • Computer literate and competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, etc.)

    • Must have good communication and writing skills

    • Must be mature and able to function well unsupervised

    • Must be able to maintain confidentiality

    • Must be willing and open to learn and work in a Church environment

    • Good time management

    EXPECTATIONS

    • Be punctual

    • Dress appropriately and be neat in appearance

    • No smoking on Erwin First United Methodist Property

    • Good public relations

    2024 Work schedule is 12 hours/week M-Th

    Pay Details: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour
