    About the role

    Carrier is looking for an experienced Outside Sales Representative in the HVAC/BAS field to join our outside sales team located in Kanata (Ontario) .

    You will participate in various outside sales activities and build business relationships to enhance outside sales performance.

    Key Job Responsibilities:

    • Meet quarterly quotas and annual sales plans.

    • Build partnerships within assigned accounts/territory, to drive penetration of ALC offerings.

    • Strive to be a trusted advisor who gets final inquiries with contractors and default specifications with consulting engineers.

    • Maximize account profit generation through needs development with end users, influence on specifications, and market pricing.

    • Qualify and assess potential customers, and where necessary refer leads to other segments of the ALC business.

    • Utilize sales tools effectively to plan and document progress as well as increase business opportunities within existing accounts.

    • Keep management informed of sales progress and sales account statuses.

    • Attend and present at trade shows and participate in industry professional organizations.

    • Adhere to company safety and ethical standards.  

    Key Responsibilities

    • Identifies prospects and establishes a professional relationship to understand the customer's needs and suggest BAS products and services that meet the customers requirements.

    • Participates in business development activities for prospects within defined customer segment to support the business strategy.

    • Identifies bid opportunities, prepares bid responses, and negotiates with potential customers.

    • Develops personal long-term customer relationships with prospective accounts to influence opportunities.

    • Attends trade shows and industry events, at times to increase the visibility of the organization and potentially influence prospects.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • High school / GED.

    • 2+ years sales experience in the HVAC or in Building Automation Controls industry.

    Preferred Qualifications (assets)

    • Bilingual: Speaks fluently in both languages: French and English (nice to have).

    • Associate / Post graduate Degree in Engineering

    • Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint.

    • 3+ years of sales experience in building automation or HVAC controls.

    • Knowledge of Direct Digital Controls systems (DDC).

    • A self-starter, who has excellent initiative and interpersonal communication skills.

    • Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills.

    • Proven analytical and critical thinking skills combined with common sense.

    • Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects concurrently.

    • Effective at building relationships with internal and external customers.

    • Customer focused with proven problem-solving capabilities.

    • Demonstrates a commitment to integrity, high ethical standards and quality in business.
