Description
The Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Rochester seeks a clinician scientist with fellowship training in musculoskeletal oncology and a commitment to a career in orthopaedic oncology and orthopaedic research. The successful candidate will be ABOS board eligible or board certified. This full-time position will provide substantial protected research time and start-up funds, commensurate with the candidate's research achievements and potential. Initial academic appointment will be determined by the candidate's academic curriculum vita. The Department of Orthopaedics has 60 clinical and 14 full time research faculty. We are the sole orthopaedic clinicians for UR Medicine, a seven hospital clinically integrated network serving a population of close to a million patients in western New York. The Department is organized into 9 sub-specialty divisions, and the successful candidate will join another fellowship-trained orthopaedic oncologist, and 4 advanced practice providers in the Division of Orthopaedic Oncology and Metabolic Bone Disease. The Division collaborates closely with the University's Wilmot Cancer Center, the busiest cancer center in New York State outside of New York City. Clinical duties include the care of primary and secondary musculoskeletal malignancies, support of the osteoporosis program and a modest amount of level II trauma call. ~~~
The Center for Musculoskeletal Research (CMSR) ~~~ at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) is a world leader in multidisciplinary basic, translational, and clinical orthopaedic research. Central to our mode of research is a dyad system in which full-time clinicians are partnered with full-time research faculty to ensure clinical significance and scientific rigor. The CMSR also prides itself on the breadth of musculoskeletal research, which aims to include all areas of orthopaedics. The CMSR seeks an orthopaedic oncology surgeon to contribute to its cancer research programs in sarcoma, tumor metastasis to bone, cancer-associated sarcopenia, and the bone-tumor microenvironment.
Qualifications
Candidates must be eligible for an unrestricted New York State license. A post-offer health assessment is required.
