  • The Patient Care Technician provides personal care andrelated services to patients. ThePatient Care Technician may operate as a patient's caregiver under thedirection, instruction and supervision of a doctor, nurse and/or medicalprofessional.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assists in identifying needs and developing/modifying planof care

    • Performs or assists the patient with personal hygiene needswhich include: bathing, skin care, grooming, dressing, oral hygiene andtoileting needs.

    • Monitors vital signs and reports any deviation from normalvalues to a medical professional

    • Assists in maintenance of a healthful and safe environment

    • Implements progressive mobility guidelines

    • Turns/positions bed-bound patients

    • Provides nutritious meals as prepared to patient as directed

    • Assists the patient with ambulation/transfers

    • Performs or assists patient with certain treatments and/ormedications which are selfadministered, ordered by the physician, approved andsupervised by a nurse, and allowed by state law

    • May assist the paramedical personnel with rehabilitativeprocesses as directed

    • Promotes the patient mental alertness through involvement inactivities

    • Observes and reports any changes in the patient's physical,mental, or emotional condition to a medical professional in a timely manner

    • May perform EKGs as required

    • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

    Minimum Requirements

    • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent preferred

    • At least one (1) year of successful work experiencepreferred

    • National Certified Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)certification preferred and may be required per state/contract

    • Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice

    • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable

    • Current CPR if applicable

    • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

    • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)

    • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

    • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site

    • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements

    • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required

    • Computer proficiency required

    • Must be at least 18 years of age
