Job Title: Operations Superintendent
Location: Baton Rouge
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interact daily with operations personnel to ensure that safety, quality, and productivity goals are being achieved
Ensure all regulatory requirements are met and are reported on time
Set priorities with production staff and make sure that they are carried out as expected
Develop and execute audits to ensure performance expectations are met by the production team
Spend time on the production floor interacting with employees to drive overall plant performance
Manage the proper headcount for the department including adequate certifications for the necessary job positions
Manage employee hours to meet overtime targets
Maintain consistency with performance expectations and discipline for the department
Ensure thorough investigations are completed resulting in root cause identification and preventative action plans in regard to Safety, Quality
Ensure performance appraisal process is conducted for each employee in the department annually
Work with the department Training staff to identify, understand and improve training gaps for operations team
Partner with Engineering/Maintenance to drive plant equipment performance and reduce/minimize equipment related downtime
Provide reports to Plant Manager and Senior Management as needed
Hold personnel accountable for their actions or lack of action to drive performance to desired levels
Act as a liaison to resolve issues/conflicts that arise between department members and/or other departments within the organization?
Audit procedures and work practices to ensure that there is proper alignment and follow up as necessary on identified gaps.
Mentor and facilitate development plans for direct reports.
Monitor work permitting to help pinpoint deficiencies then correct any gaps.
REQUIREMENTS:
Strong working knowledge of manufacturing in the Chemicals industry.?
Demonstrated leadership in a manufacturing environment
Ability to work well with a variety of cross functional teams to obtain outcomes which drive plant performance
Strong knowledge of process troubleshooting and must have the ability to come up with novel solutions
Ability to prioritize multiple competing plant needs based upon available resources
Good computer skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft? Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint as well as SAP, and able to quickly become proficient with other software utilized in chemical manufacturing
Strong written and oral communications skills
Ability to be available during off hours to provide direction for plant activities
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and stressful production environment, must be a quick learner and adapt to change
Engineering degree with 10 years of Supervising/Chemical Process experience.
