    As an airline, safety is our most important principle. And our Corporate Safety team is responsible for making sure safety is top of mind in every action we take. From conducting flight safety investigations and educating pilots on potential safety threats to implementing medical programs and helping prevent employee injuries, our team is instrumental in running a safe and successful airline for our customers and employees.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Provides guidance, training, and assistance to division leadership in their recognition and abatement of occupational hazards to employees to reduce and mitigate aircraft damages ensuring the enterprise meets or exceeds established year end targets and to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate safety objectives.

    Acts as a resource to divisional leadership to affect continual improvement in all safety areas. Conducts on-site safety compliance assessments of company facilities to validate workplace hazard corrective actions have been implemented to address root causes of process failures identified. Ensures all lost time employee injuries are investigated by location leadership assuring root cause is identified and preventative actions are implemented to avoid repeats. Ensures all

    Category 1 (CAT 1) aircraft damages are investigated by location leadership assuring root cause is identified and preventative actions are implemented to avoid repeats. Partners with location leadership in the investigation of all significant aircraft damages and presents findings to operational senior leadership. Provides guidance and assistance to leadership on safety related compliance matters with outside regulatory agencies.

    • Develops, publishes, and maintains safety standards, communications, procedures, and specifications related to employees and their work environment. Conducts safety assessments of operating areas and reports to management on findings and if any corrective action is to be taken.

    • Maintains liaison with operating divisions to eliminate or minimize problems in the areas of occupational safety. Maintains contact with government agencies and industry groups to assure compliance with applicable requirements pertaining to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

    • Ensures departments training programs are current and applicable student materials are prepared and provided. Acts as enterprise subject matter expert in assigned areas.

    • Maintains and manages the event reporting tool to ensure aircraft damages are reported and investigations and root cause analysis is complete as applicable.

    • Interacts and works extensively with representative unions on both proactive and remedial solutions to safety issues.

    • Reviews aircraft damage data and prepares analytical reports to inform senior and executive leaders of system safety performance, trends, and recommendations for improvement.

    Qualifications

    What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

    • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience

    • 4+ years of operational experience working in the airline or transportation industry.

    • OSHA credentials (10, 30 Hour), Safety/IH training

    • Experience in changing how safety is performed through training, education, and coaching

    • Must be familiar with and have the ability to interpret and comply with the code of federal regulations (CFR) specific to OSHA (29CFR)

    • Excellent communication skills, written/oral

    • Comprehensive understanding of applicable regulatory requirements

    What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

    • MBA, MSS, aviation or industrial industry safety and health experience

    • Previous leadership experience in an airline managing safety performance.

    • ASP, CSP, OSHA 511 & 501 or NSC Advanced Safety Certificate

    • Project management experience desirable, including systems integration, budgets, and resource management

    • Airline corporate and field operational safety experience

    • Cross functional experience involving the application of safety process, initiatives and risk assessment and compliance validations
