Our plant location in Columbus, OH currently has an opportunity for an EHS Specialist. This site is Abbott's oldest nutrition manufacturing plant in the world. Working here, you'll feel part of a family - a family of 400 that works together to help nourish the world.
Primary Function/Primary Goals/Objectives:
The EHS Specialist will be responsible for a variety of environmental programs, risk assessments and audits, regulatory and Abbott reporting, assisting with project management/training and monitoring.
Major Responsibilities:
Manages the OSHA and EPS regulations within the plant.
Develops, implements, and manages plant environmental programs
Conduct Green Team Meeting and attend Zero Waste to Landfill and Safety meeting
Assist management in preparing a variety of EHS presentations
Keep informed on current environmental, health and safety regulations and legislation and recommend policy changes
Develops and conducts/coordinates EHS trainings
Maintain files and records pertaining to environmental, safety and industrial hygiene
Maintain site environmental reports and permits
Conduct site regulatory inspections
Assists with accident/incident investigations and corrective actions
Conduct frequent EHS tours/audits of all plant areas and make recommendations for corrective actions for all environmental, safety and health problems noted
Review the installation and modification of all equipment/processes for EHS issues
Assist Employee Health in a variety of functions such as dosimetry, audiometric testing and training
Conduct new hire EHS orientations
Responsible for a variety of timely environmental projects
Assist with the improvement of the plant's recycling efforts
Education and experience You'll bring:
A four year degree is required - Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene or related field. Experience may be substituted for degree. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Occupational Health & Safety preferred.
Environmental, Industrial Hygiene or related field - includes intern or Co-op experience
Technical expertise in EHS; plant level experience is preferred
Ability to translate regulatory requirements into policies and procedures
Proven leadership skills and the ability to make good decisions
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Solid strategic and analytical skills
Experience managing the OSHA and EPS regulations within the plant.
Ability to work independently to drive for results
Flexibility to come in on off shifts and weekends as needed to conduct training, accident investigations, etc.
Preferred:
The base pay for this position is $57,300.00 - $114,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
