    Job Summary and Qualifications

    The Manager for Case Management Services reports to the Case Management Director and is responsible for promoting patient-centered care by coordinating all aspects of hospital-based case management for his/her assigned area of responsibility in alignment with the goals of the Case Management Department. The Manager for Case Management is accountable for the overall day-to-day oversight and management of the case management program including coordination, supervision, and administrative oversight of the case management team. The Manager for Case Management functions as an expert clinical practitioner, case management subject-matter expert, resource, advisor, and leader for the members of the case management team. The Manager for Case Management supervises and monitors professional and support staff and ensures that effective care coordination and case management practices are consistent with hospital policies, and applicable regulations and guidelines. The Manager for Case Management monitors the quality of the interactions, documentation, and assessments of the case management staff. The Manager for Case Management coordinates activities that promote quality outcomes and patient throughput while supporting a balance of optimal care and appropriate resource utilization. 

    • You will serve as a role model and function as a clinical resource for staff. 
    • You will supervise and facilitate the development of staff and oversee the day-to-day tasks/activities in the department.
    • You will ensure staff are competent in the use of InterQual to progress the plan of care. 
    • You will work collaboratively and maintain active communication with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to effect timely, appropriate patient management. 
    • You will monitor the quality of CM interactions with patients, families, physicians, and the multidisciplinary team by regularly shadowing staff to ensure clear understanding and adherence to department processes. 
    • You will monitor the quality of documentation and assessments by regularly auditing the case managers’ documentation. 
    • You will participate in clinical performance improvement activities. 
    • You will communicate effectively with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts. 
    • You will assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the Director. 
    • You will assume responsibility for scheduling and staffing of the department. 
    • You will assume responsibility for department education and competencies. 
    • You will complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports as assigned by the Director of Case Management. 
    • You will cover staff assignments as needed. 
    • You will seek ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered. 
    • You will adhere to established policies, procedures, and standards of care; and escalate issues promptly through the established chain of command. 
    • You will demonstrate knowledge of regulatory requirements, HCA Ethics and Compliance policies, and quality initiatives. 
    • You will serve as an advocate for patients' rights, needs, and values; and ensure that patients’ ethnic, cultural, or religious values, beliefs, preferences, and needs 

    What qualifications you will need: 

    • Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred 
    • 3+ years experience in clinical nursing required 
    • InterQual experience preferred 
    • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. FT/PT/PRN colleagues with a compact license from a state other than Texas must: apply for a Texas RN license within 60 days from hire/ obtain current Texas RN license within 6 months of application for Texas RN license 
    • Certification in Case Management preferred 
    • Certification in InterQual or IQCI preferred
